hotel is located quite nicely and conveniently along the river bank. It's an easy 10 min walk to the bars/restaurants around FCC. Otherwise, a tuk-tuk is USD 1-2. Arriving early, my room was not ready yet, so they offered upgrade, which consisted of a 2 bed-room (which is bigger than my own apt). As a single traveller, the upgrade did not really provide me with an additional experience other than feelinga bit lost in a big apartment. Even a one-bedroom would have been generously spacious enough. The hotel caters for business travellers. So, do not expect a particulary charming place. The complex looks at least 10 years old (the small tv set in the rooms certainly is). I would recommend it especially for families, where you get the best value out of it.

The HIMAWARI has an excellent location on the banks of the Mekong River.Most of the tourist spots are within walking distance.
Has very spacious rooms.
Well maintained and clean hotel.
Service in the restaurant and in the rooms was good.
The only thing missing was variety in the menu.
The restaurant has a very limited selection of food.
There are virtually no snacks listed.This feature needs to be seriously addressed.
Also since more than 50 rooms facing the river are occupied on a longterm basis it leaves other guests wanting to stay in rooms with a view of the river with very little choice.
One major issue that needs to be looked at is the misleading information that the concierge gives to new guests. We were told to take a taxi for half a day at USD30/-to see the sites such as the Palace,the Silver Pagoda, the National Museum and visit some markets nearby.Since we had no idea about the location of these sites we accepted and later on to our horror realised that all these sites were within a 2km range from the hotel and had we taken a Tuk-Tuk we would have covered all for less than USD10/-
We would like to inform all prospective guests not to ask the concierge for any help but take a Tuk-Tuk to these sites as they only charge USD1/per person for such trips and Tuk-Tuks are available all over in plenty.

The Himawari is in a fantastic location...
The Himawari is in a fantastic location right on the river in the heart of town. We stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment with our kids and it was fantastic. Very large, clean and well appointed.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The only drawback was the restauraant. My advice would be to eat out!

Lovely apatment room with kitchen facilities but no need to use them as the restaurants near by were so good. It is within walking distance of some shops and restaurants but we took Tuk-tuks to most places as it was so cheap and they were always waiting outside. Our room had a balcony but we didnt overlook the river. However it was great for watching all the activity outside on the road! Overall an excellent place to stay.

After reafing some of the reviews on TripAdvisor (not this website) I was a little apprehensive. However, totally unfounded. The hotel is a perfectly adequate hotel for either a family holiday or a business base. The location is excellent, the facilities are as expected for a 4 star hotel and everyone is friendly. If I had to mention a negative it would be the poor breakfast choice. Although this seems to a reflection of the standard of breakfasts across Cambodia and not this hotel.

Lovely hotel on the water front two minutes walk from The Royal Palace. Short tuk tuk ride ($1or2 depending on how firm you are!!) down to the riverside bars.
