Stayed at the Nanyang Royal for the...
Stayed at the Nanyang Royal for the recent Canton Fair. If you accept the fact that rates at Fair time are a rip-off, this is a really nice hotel. Decoration is Louis XIV throughout and a little ostentatious. Rooms are excellent, big and clean. The bathrooms and showers are also very good. Service is top class and the staff cannot do enough to help, however, they are on a learning curve that will only improve in time. English is spoken by most staff, even if a little limited by some. We were not overly impressed by the menu's so we ate elsewhere. Breakfast is adequate but not exciting. Location is ideal especially for the Pazhou complex, just off the main drag and within walking distance to shops, ATM etc. The area seemed safe and taxis (cheap) are freely available. No hesitation in recommending this hotel for business travellers. No pool, and I am not aware of any other facilities. Be prepared for the smog all over Guangzhou. Use only the official taxis, or be prepared to be ripped off.
