Hotel rooms dont look clean. Staff are unfriendly. Breakfast is horrible. Location's good though. but definitely not recommended for biz travellers (rooms not on par), families (not clean).

I had a very pleasant stay at...
I had a very pleasant stay at East Ocean Hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful where possible. A few of them spoke a little English. The travel service was good, booked me on a great tour to the toulous (Hakka roundhouses) but on the tour no-one spoke English (local guides). I was lucky I met two young girls from Shanghai who translated for me. The only thing that disappointed me was that there was massage advertised in the room but there was no massage facilities available, which I would have liked after a day of sightseeing. It's in a great location for the night market and the ferry to Gulangyu.
