Beware do not be fooled by the name
We choose the Stanford Kowloon mainly because of the name of the hotel chain.
We were surprised and dissapointed by the standard and size of the room.The reception staff left a lot to be desired as they were unhelpful and uncommunicative. The cleaning lady was efficient and friendly but the other staff we encountered (the dining room staff at breakfast time) were gruff and upsetting, there was no communication from them at all.
My major concern though was the size of the room. It was tiny. There was no room to move around the bed and for one person to go to the bathroom the other needed to be either on one side of the bed or on the bed itself. There was no drawer space and limited wardrobe and storage space.
The bathroom was a reasonable size and although we had to have a blockage fixed on the first day I was dissapointed to notice that there was no bath only a shower, toilet and hand basin.
As I have stated we stayed here because of the name as we have stayed on various Stanford Hotels around the world, this however will be the last time we ever stay in any of this hotel chain again.

Disappointing Staff
Rooms are extremely small.
Insufficient Lighting within room.
Try newer hotels.
If reception assigns you room xx-01, xx-02, xx-13, xx-14 be prepared for extremely cramp space. Better rooms are for units 03 to 12.
Best part is, they are all priced the same.
I was there for a 5night stay, was assigned to 16-14 and room is really cramp and toilet does not flush. Had to get plumber to work on it. "Housekeeping really should have highlighted to maindesk"
After 1st night, we cancelled and found another hotel.
Be prepared for the worst, when you bought rooms here!

Small but clean hotel in a great location
This is my second stay in Stanford Hotel, the first time being several years back. I chose it again for its location as I wanted to stay in Mong Kok. The hotel is within walking distance to Mong Kok MTR Station, but I would have preferred it to be even closer. In the morning when the streets are relatively quieter, it is about 5 minutes' walk away. But once the shops open and the crowds come, it takes at least double the time to negotiate the crowds to get to the station. At the end of the day when you are tired from a whole day of walking or are carrying shopping bags, the walk may seem like eternity.
Nevertheless, I am quite satisfied with the other aspects of the hotel. The rooms are tiny but acceptable for the price I am paying. A little old but clean. Connecting rooms are available on request, and on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Another plus point is that the hotel is very near to one of the extremely popular dim sum places - Tim Ho Wan at Kwong Wa Street. Only two minutes' walk away!
I will gladly stay here again until I find a better alternative within Mong Kok at around the same price.

exceptional service and ideal location
the hotel is located approximately 20 to 30mins and it's located in the heart of Mongkok. basically there is a wide variety of food stores and shops at your door step. that's how ideal the location of the hotel is. In addition, all of the stores are open till late. we reached there around 11pm and yet it was still crowded.
The staff there spoke exceptionally good english therefor communication wasn't a problem at all despite the fact that neither my boyfriend or i could speak cantonese. and the staff there were really helpful and patient when we told them we wanted a room change and when we asked for an additional portable heater because the heater in the room wasnt working that well and it was freezing cold. so thank you guys so much for a pleasant and wonderful stay! i will definitely be back there again!

The stay at stanford was brilliant, Great service provided, room was small but cosy, location of hotel is great as there's alot of local delicacies around the corner. About 5 min walk to MTR, alot of shopping locations around the corner as well. Our last day before we left, the hotel even provide us booking cab service which ensure us the taxi driver wouldn't drive us around for fun... cost less then 200HKD to reach airport. Very helpful staff.

Give this place a miss !
The hotel although reasonably priced is old and in need of a makeover. The only room made availabe for me was a smoking room which as a non smoker I was not happy with. The room obviously smelt strongly of smoke and I didnt sleep well as the smell was very uncomfortable for me. The quality of the food at breakfast was terrible, which was reflected by the fact that I was the only person there. I dont think i could recommend this hotel to anyone.
