This visit was the final leg of our holiday to the far east from the UK as part of a celebration of my girlfriend " significant " birthday.having visited Hing Kong previously we knew what to expect of hotel accommodation. Which is usually small & bijoux rooms, and this was no exception. BUT, they room was perfectly comfortable and very clean.
The staff were courteous & helpful on every occasion and eager with advice and knowledge.
We had the continental breakfast option which was of good quality and plentiful. But as with the space problem that is Hong Kong it could do with more tables as the availability is limited, we did have to sit outside twice. Not too bad but during colder or wet periods I can see this as considerable inconvenience.
The biggest draw back of this hotel is the offer of free WiFi in the hotel. THIS is only available on the 5th floor not the whole hotel. A bit of a pain but better than nothing and only slightly inconvenient. Although it must be said that the room on the 5 th floor is quite a pleasant & comfortable place to take time out and very spacious in contrast to the room sizes. They also offer 2 computers for free use in this room.
We would return to this hotel as its location in Kowloon is great location for exploring the district and within easy reach of the Central Piers to catch the Star Ferry to the Island & Central.

location good except...
Location
I would say that the hotel has a rather good location, near to the MTR exits. Minden is located at the back of a smaller lane and is also located right in the midst of some clubs and pubs. But honestly, staying on the 10th floor and being tire-out from walking, I really don't hear the traffic noise that some had mentioned here. However, being in that lane, it can get alittle scary when you have groups of people hanging around the area, just before the drinking starts...
Room
The room is rather spacious (I had the corner room) and clean. No strange smell (had requested for a non-smoking room).
Breakfast provided
Minimum (but hey, ya in Hong Kong, you don't really need breakfast provided... just head out).
Customer service
Generally it is acceptable for the fact that there is only one person at the reception table, doing the check-in/out, and everything else. There was no mess-up or miscommunication between the receptionist and me.
Overall, Minden is a hotel that comes with no frills but sufficient for one to have a good rest in the evening and yes, a proper shower. Easy access to MTR.

Inexpensive option for good location
This hotel provided a clean, basic room just off Nathan road, and 2 minutes walk to the MTR. Whilst not as luxurius as some of the top name hotels in the same area, at 1/2 or 1/3rd the price it is good value for money for a clean and comfortable room, and free cable internet in the rooms, and wireless in the bar and lobby.
The basic breakfast which was included in the room rate was good, and had offered a selection of toast and pasteries, along with fruit, eggs, juice, tea and coffee.
The wine bar was too expensive with prices the same as the Sheraton's sky lounge, and the Intercontinential's bar, but without their views, however there was a 7-11 next door and a supermarket in the K11 mall across the road where you could get cheap drinks if that was your style.

1) I read a review (one from western country) about allowing guest to check out late in order to catch a late afternoon flight, that's the main reason I book this hotel, but it was not so.
2) The water heater in the bath room was bad, water turns cold suddenly.

Stayed at the Minden for two days. Checking in and out was a breeze. They provide internet access for guests on the first and fifth floor. Location is superb, with a bar and convenience store just beside it. Two complaints though. When in the shower, hot water suddenly turns cold. Air conditioner in our room sometimes emit irritating sound. Well, other than that, it was a good experience.

a nice surprise
I was pretty happy with my room and the staff were super friendly. I thought it might be a bit ghetto because it was cheap and in a party area. It was quiet in my room and cosy. I had everything I needed and liked the breakfast, get in early for the tasty danishes.. cause they run out.
The only bad thing was going for a tea in the bar on my way home. It was soooo overpriced so I made sure not to buy any drinks from there again considering you can just pop down to the 7/11 downstairs. If you can avoid things like getting your laundry done (rip off) your onto a good thing.
I would stay there again for sure.

good location,worth $
I stayed there for 4 nites n first time visit to Hongkong. Very happy with the location. Its very convenient n easy access to the mtr tnsn shopping ctrs all places of interest. The room is clean n size is spacious compared to other hotels of the same price. The pillows are too soft, other than that it wld be a perfect choice for a budget accomodation. I wld not mind staying there again for my future visit.

Minden mystery
Maybe I expected too much of The Minden. Given the glowing reviews from travellers, I thought it would be better than it actually was. That said, I had a very comfortable stay here and found the hotel a quiet and conveniently located place. Reception was obliging and efficient and the hotel generally is well-managed. However my room was a little disappointing with shabby furniture, peeling wallpaper and a leaky shower recess. However it was large (for a Hong Kong budget hotel), and very clean. Good thick towels and fresh sheets each day enhanced the experience. Breakfast was included in the price and the breakfast room on the 5th floor was very congenial with a small garden courtyard. Breakfast itself was continental style and sugary but a simple cooked breakfast can be ordered at extra cost. A few Chinese alternatives e.g congee would be appreciated. Anyway, The Minden is close to many restaurants so it is not difficult to top up with a more healthy and filling breakfast. A good place for singles and couples, close to public transport on Nathan Road (buses, MTR) going to other parts of Hong Kong and easy return access to airport on bus A21. Short walk to Kowloon Park where visitors can escape the crowds and bustle and easy to get to China Ferry Terminal for tourists intending ferry trips to China.

Stop Over
On planning our return from the UK my wife and I decided to stay in Hong Kong, after reading all the reviews on hotels in Hong Kong we decided to stay at The Minden due to its location and value for money.
I can honestly say that we enjoyed our stay at The Minden and could not fault it in any way except for the location in the back streets. The room was large enough for us and the excess baggage we had accumilated on our 4 weeks in the UK.
When reading the reviews of other hotels in Hong Kong they all indicated that the rooms and facilities were to small, this was not the case of The Minden
We were very fortunate to meet the Owner who suggested sites we should visit and the best way to get around Hong Kong. The owner also arrange for us to have a very late check out as we were leaving at 11:55pm to fly home, this enabled us to do and see more without worrying about our bags and then come back and freshen up prior to our flight home.
Would I stay at The Minden again yes.

The hotel is well located, close to a metro station and shops. Staff were nice and prompt. Breakfast, though, was quite poor, and the room small with no design touch. But it is a good value for money.
