We had a great time at Patra and all of my family enjoyed the stay. Nice people and good service. Location was not perfect but we did not mind!

The place is beautiful. The environment is scenic with lush greenery especially also since we had a room near the sea. The decon in the room is beautiful too.
The cleanliness of the place is good, even the common restrooms were very clean. They provide professional standars of service.
A really good place to retreat as the atmosphere is tranquil.

We stayed at the Patra Bali for...
We stayed at the Patra Bali for 10 nights in July. I originally only booked it for 3 nights but then extended for an additional 7 nights when we realised what fantastic value it was. We have been to Bali 6 times before and have stayed at various places, the last couple of times being the Grand Hyatt in Nusa Dua. Whilst this hotel is not up to the standard of the 5 star there were some things that made it more attractive than the Grand Hyatt.
1. Price - Through Asiarooms.com we were able to get a price of US$56 per room per night inclusive of taxes and breakfast. This turned out to be unbelievable value. We have 2 children (aged 3 and 5) and therefore were able to get 2 rooms for less than the price of 1 room at the Grand Hyatt.
2. Location - The hotel is also ideally situated for walking to Waterbom, Discovery Shopping Mall and even Kuta. We enjoyed the Italian restaurant in the hotel but given its central location we were also able to enjoy various other restaurants all within walking distance. Located next to the airport we were surprised there wasn't more noise as a result of the planes. The noise was minimal and in fact, the kids enjoyed watching the planes coming in. We also loved the way the hotel is build in small cottages consisting of 4-6 rooms per cottage and the cottages are spread throughout the property. It's a nice change from a big hotel and it made it nice for the kids to run around the grass.
3. Facilities - The pools were great and well equipped for both children and adults. The children's club was absolutely fantastic. Large inside air conditioned space and large outdoor play area consisting of paddling pool, trampoline, swings and slide. This is by far the best kids club we have seen in Bali (much better than Grand Hyatt). The staff was also very nice and the kids actually asked if they could go there.
The only downside to the hotel is its lack of beach although we didn't find this a problem. They have constructed a small sandy area in front of the main pool which was sufficient for the kids to play in and if you really wanted to swim in the sea then you just had to walk 30 seconds out of the hotel and use the beach next door in front of the Bali Hai.
We also walked around various other hotels in this area and given that the Patra has just recently been renovated it was by far the nicest with the best facilities. We would definetely recommend it to other families with children or generally anyone looking for a nice hotel in a central location at an exceptionally reasonable price.

Our stay at The Patra could have been better. The room lights were rather dim. The bathroom could be further improved in terms of water seeping from the shower during bathtime.
On one occasion, we had to walk back to our room which was far from the reception area as the buggies were all apparently being charged.
Room service leaves much to be desired in terms of food quality. Orders taken were wrong and it was a mighty long wait for the food!
The good thing about the hotel was its close proximity to the airport.

The Patra has nice rooms and a nice layout. However, some of the rooms are so far away one has to take the buggy to one's room. One day, I was told that there were no buggies available to send me to my room as they were charging them. Can't imagine that a huge hotel like that didn't have any spare buggies! Totally disappointed..............had to walk back to my room all by myself!

Stayed here Augusta last year and i'm planning another stay this month at the Patra because we were very happy with the service and the pool was fantastic. The best part about the pool area was the kids played in the main pool and the smaller one was quiet (no kids) but just as beautiful. It was a bit of a distance to Kuta by foot but it was still ok.
The rooms were fine and the dinners at the hotel were great - the breakfast was ok.
Overall i was very happy with this hotel the distance from the others made it more peaceful and less hawkers.

This is my second visit to this...
This is my second visit to this property and my expectations were once again met. This time I was with my 11 & 12 year old son and daughter so we stayed in a larger suite which could not be faulted for size, cleanliness and facilities. This is actually a very good property but it is suffering from low occupancy due to the wet season & fewer people travelling to Bali which means the hotel restaurants and bars are fairly empty most of the time. The staff are all very good at their jobs and extremely courteous and friendly. I found the food in the main restaurant not as good as when I was there 9 months ago and the area around the main pool, particularly the area with sand was looking a little dirty and rundown. The breakfasts in the morning are fairly good with a wide range of dishes to cater for Asian and Western preferences. The property is very close to the airport and although on the water, there is no swimming in the sea in front of the hotel, so you must go further north towards Kuta for that. I would not hesitate to stay here again as they make you feel most welcome and really look after you.
