I was pleased with the hotel. The breakfast was varied and overall very good. The room was nice, but I wish I had known to ask for a room with an ocean view as the side I was put on only looked onto the roofs of other buildings. All staff was helpful and friendly and I have no complaints about the way I was treated. Although a bit plain, the pool was clean and gave a nice break from the heat. I realize it was not the fault of the hotel in any way, but I was getting a little tired of the behavior of the guests in the lobby. I wish they had not let children run around and asked the guests to be quiet (often, guests were yelling across the lobby at each other, etc.). If you are going to KK and are alone (as I was), the location is perfect. The Hyatt is not as nice as some of the resorts just outside town, but it is close to shopping and restaurants. If I were to go back to KK, most likely I would stay here again.

I was lucky enough to visit Kota Kinabalu during a port visit on a US Naval ship. I would recommend the Hyatt but be aware of the "room switches" and hidden costs. I booked a deluxe room and ended up with a standard with no compinsation returned and the "high-speed" internet costs 18.00 US a day and it is the same speed as dial-up.
The hotel is clean and the staff mostly outgoing. The club in the hotel, Shenanigans, is the best club and their band rocks the house!

The rooms at this hotel were nice, and watching the sunset at night was fantastic. There was building work going on while we were there, as they were renovating some of the rooms, and our room smelt strongly of paint, although they did do their best to sort this out for us. The main criticism of this hotel is that it was incredibly noisy. Our room was at the end of the hotel, above a bar called Shennanigans, and the bass was thumping through the walls! So take earplugs... however, when we moved to another room at the other end, it was much quieter, so think it depends where you get put. The staff were wonderful, and unfailingly helpful and polite. The location is not as good as that of the Meridien. There's a cafe which serves great cakes!

The Hyatt Regency is a very nice hotel when staying in Kota Kinabalu. Staff is very courteous, and friendly. Breakfast buffet has an enormous selection. Rooms are very clean, well maintained and reasoably priced at Asiarooms.com

Must stay hotel for the location and great service. Booked a standard room but was upgraded to a seaview room. Breakfast was fine. Easy access to shops. Unfortunately the pool was too small. Otherwise a great value hotel.

Great staff, nice room. Our stay at Hyatt Regency was spoilt by the noise. We had planned an early start for a trip which getting up at 5.30am, we tried to get an early night the night before, however , the hotel allowed live music in the lobby till after 11pm. It was so loud that we made a complaint.
The following day, exhausted I looked forward to a lie in; no such luck, at 7am piped music from the lobby woke us up.
My recommendation would be don't get a room that faces on to the lobby but if you do take some good ear plugs.
