Was a great experience to stay in...
Was a great experience to stay in the palatial rooms at Tanjung Sanctuary .
The setting is beautiful : walking through the deep woods to the pristine beache was amazing.
Downside : Rooms were a bit old and worn off. The service was ok/satisfactory : I arranged for a wake up call and got no callback the next morning.
Will I stay there again ? Maybe or maybe not.

I was impressed with the large room, and verandah with sun loungers, overlooking the sea. Creaky floorboards meant you could hear occupants moving about next door. First day breakfast was a plated meal, not buffet selection. When I queried this I was told buffet breakfast was only offered when the hotel was over half full.
I took evening meals out. Overall I found it a quiet relaxing stay - just what I wanted.

This small, pressure-free resort far surpassed our expectations! After a month of intense city travel in SE Asia, this place was a breath of fresh air. The rooms are enormous, duplexes on stilts in the jungle (the views of the jungle with the beach and ocean beyond were breathtaking...and we watched the monkeys' antics daily.) We often had the private beach almost to ourselves...we've taken many beach holidays but never had such space on the beach before. The restaurant juts out over the ocean, so you can watch the fishing boats and tidal pools as you eat. This resort is secluded, so you'll need to rent a car or use taxis to get around, but taxi fares are low and regulated so there's no hassle. The restaurant food is pricey and unremarkable compared to other restaurants on the island, but overall we loved the place and still ate all our meals there for simplicity. Do check out the complimentary afternoon tea for the traditional Malaysian delicacies.

The island is beautiful and the location was, as suggested lovely and the rooms were spacious. However the quality of both bedlinen and bathroom towels (which were at times threadbare)left a lot to be desired. Our stay was for 13 nights and we had our linen changed once.
The restaurant menue lacked imagination and the food quality and service was poor.There is no bar, so a cocktail or just a beer to enjoy the evening sunset was only possible in the resturant area.
The beach was great but the paths leading to the beach were not suitable for human traffic. Errosion has made for many dangerous areas. There was a lack of beach furniture and beds like competitor hotels/resorts provided their clients.
The swimming pool was very clean and sparkled and could have been a wonderful relaxing experience but poor poolside furniture and bedding made for a very uncomfortable stay. There was no poolside service from the hotel.
The staff were friendly but lacked the guidance from the senior management.
Living and working in South East Asia now for the past 6 years I would have expected better from this my second honeymoon holiday at a potentially wonderful venue. David Knight (Jakarta)

This hotel was excellent - we had a 'villa' overlooking the private beach which was frequented by monkeys everyday (beware they try and steal towels / food etc. We had the beach pretty much to ourselves which was great - lots of wildlife around too.
The staff in general where helpful and pleasant, the food was Ok but we tended to eat elsewhere in the evening. Overall an excellent place to stay for its tranquility and location within its own forest.
Places to visit - the seven wells; cable car (do not go on if you have any fear of heigths) Kuah town centre for shopping; north coast for scenery; night markets!

We stayed in a beachfront cabin. The rooms are seriously large and spacious and the facilities are adequate but the room/bathroom could do with a serious lick of paint and a good scrub. As with many Malaysian resorts/buildings, they simply arent maintained to the highest level.
The views from the restaurant are great and booking tours and things is easy.
There is a good mix between jungle and beach here which you wont find at most resorts.
The restaurant was pretty poor comparably to others on the island. Eat at the nearby harbour or oriental village for the best food.
When in langkawi, do the Mangrove tour and cable car.

An excellent place for staying for several days and enjoying an empty beach, native forest, monkeys. Food is not bad, though for 4* hotel breakfast could be better and overall food price could be cheaper. Obviously there is no any entertainment places or other restaurant within walking distance, so to go anywhere one needs a car or a taxi. Taxi is quite cheap, and small car can be rented for 50 Rm. a day only. The room is huge, it has a nice balcony, but because of a dense forest from most of the houses it's possible to see only small part of a beach and to watch sunset one must go to the beach. Anyway, place is great and I would probably stay there again for 2-3 days.

The hotel is quite nice for its location and hospitality of its staffs. Near the private beach and esp very good location of its receiption and restaurant with fantastic sea view.
However the room facilities are a little bit old. The bathroom is too shabby. And for those who are scared of worms and insects and mosquitos, it is not very suitable since the hotel is in the rain forest!
Monkeys are lovely.

The only set back of this hotel...
The only set back of this hotel is that it is isolated and we needed a taxi to get to the nearest bars and restaurants-the restaurant which sits on stilts over the sea does not offer a great range and the food is a mediocre but extremely good value, and the service is good. The accomodation is superior though; rooms are clean and huge set in rainforest. The noise from the wildlife is quite phenomenal. During our stay here we saw giant black squirrels, monkeys and a variety of other wildlife in the trees. From the restaurant we watched the giant lizards which are about 4-5 feet long, sea otters and sea eagles. The private beach is clean and beautiful. Although i would probably travel to another restaurant I would definitely stay here again. It is a real paradise.
