Second visit - alone (previously with family)
This is my second stay at the Fairmont Singapore and I will return - the staff an a credit to the establishment.
The rooms are quiet, clean and spacious; bathrooms are lovely, well maintained with big fluffy towel; the bed and pillows were so comfortable (passing through overnight between Europe and Australia); air-conditioning was effective and quiet; and two bottles of complementary water make life easy. I am a member of the presidents club (free to join) which provides free wifi plus other benefits. I was fortunate to have my request for early check-in accepted by the very friendly gracious staff.
The pool and spa area are also lovely, and the pool-side bar makes a lovely evening cocktail. I felt comfortable and safe drinking alone by the bar of an evening. The restaurants on site are divine, but I also ate at the market place of the adjacent shopping centre, a fantastic bbq duck meal for less than S$10. It doesn't get better than that!
Taxis freely available but the city hall metro (MTR) stop is only 5 mins away (through the mall), giving easy access city wide. And 40 min to the airport.
My only tip for families - my previous stay with two 12 year old kids in a family room - this room has 2 double beds only and was not large enough for western kids. I suggest for older kids that you may need two rooms, or order a roll-away bed before you arrive. The kids loved the hotel and area.

Best experience in Singapore
For best hotel experience in Singapore or anywhere else in the world this is the THE place to stay. We stayed at Fairmont on our way back from Europe holiday so we had fresh memory to compare with other accommodations in 5 other countries. The staff, facilities, location and evything else is just spot on. Could not have asked for a better experience.
I guess one can match this service and facilties but that would come at a much much higher cost. It was our best experience with a 5 star hotel...

Great location, easy to get to from airport with train. Good quality rooms. Staff lack knowledge in offering the best option ie. we were kindly upgraded to a deluxe room but which had smaller beds than the standard 2 double bed room we booked. But we were told that we had the biggest bed for such a room type. This was later clarified by the manager to be not the case after we made a fuss about it. Situation could have been better handled.

Perfect
We stayed at The Fairmont enroute home from our holiday. We were very happy with our choice because travelling with a 2 and 6year old we were central and walking distance to shops, restaurants. On arrival to our surprise we were upgraded to a room with beautiful night views of Singapore.
On departure (our flight wasn't till the evening) we were givin full use of the hospitality room and spa (for showers/changing).

Fabulous
We were delighted with this hotel. From memory, the hotel is listed as a 4 star hotel (although not sure) however it felt like a 5 star hotel to us. From the moment we checked in and the doors were opened, our bags were whisked away, juices were poured and balloons given to the children, the stay was perfect. Staff (and there were many!) were attentive, genuinely friendly and very helpful. Our children were made to feel very welcome also. Room was great with two large king single beds (suitable for 2 children in 1, and 2 adults in the other). Beds incredibly comfortable. Swimming pools were divine, the adult pool large enough to accommodate large numbers although it was never crowded during any of our many swims there. Breakfast by the pool divine. Handy location, adjacent to a shopping mall. Excellent Supermarket and many food stalls, located within mall.

Fantastic hotel, as a family with small children it was perfect and had a lovely pool area. Will definitely be staying there next time I'm in Singapore.

Singapore stopover
Low customer service as appalling check in. Arrived late with 2 hungry children to be told no room reservation! Provided paper copy and showed email and she insisted nothing booked! To be fair they gave us a complimentary upgrade for the night until it could be sorted. After 24 hours and wasted time on various conversations it transpired that we did have a booking. Room lovely and clean but only set up for 2 people so had to keep asking for more towels/water etc as 4 of us in there. Breakfast abit chaotic probably due to Chinese new year - go early as we couldn't get in one area so had to go to another by pool which was nicer but too few staff and too many people. Breakfast OK but just standard. Not really child friendly. Check your bed sizes they are different to Europe/USA. A queen is slightly larger than a single so we had to push ours together and ask for a camp bed which only just sorted 4 of us out. Position of hotel good but would only visit again without children.

Room was as advertised, great view, clean and an extra roll away bed was provided at no extra cost. The extra bed made the room a bit cramped but was fine.
The thing I would like to highlight about our stay was the level of service we received. It was great. Nothing was too much trouble. Thanks to all the staff concerned.
We would definitely recommend this hotel and would stay there again without hesitation.
