a tad expensive
the hotel is located near to my conference hotel. i booked late. probably that's the contributing factor to it being a bit expensive. the interior is ok but not great. down point is there was no complimentary wifi service which was usually available in a lot of hotel. at least if there's a lounge of free internet service would be a bit attractive.

A lovely surprise!
I read all the reviews before booking the hotel and had mixed feelings - until we arrived.
Everyone was extremely friendly and helpful. Even though I had a bit of struggle convincing the Receptionist that I had already paid for my room in advance as it was a special Advanced Booking Package. Normally the hotel takes the room fees as soon as one books in - but I had received my bank statement before I left home so knew the bill had been settled.
We had an adequate room facing the main road, but as soon as my husband saw the river views we asked if we could change and it was actioned immediately - really impressed with the service.
On the map this hotel seemed quite a distance from the town and night life, but we could either walk across the bridge directly outside the back of the hotel and walk along the side of the river into town. Or just walk the main street in 10 to 15 minutes maximum to China Town, numerous shopping centres and other exciting areas .
We didn't use the shuttle bus as we left it too late to book with the Front Desk. A list of all bus timetables to different parts of town was displayed in full view by the front exit.
We didn't eat any meals at the hotel, not for any valid reason, only because we wanted to visit as many places as we could in such a short time so ate en route ie Breakfast at The Botanical Gardens one day and just a Shopping Centre another day.
The last time we visited Singapore was 5 years ago and we stayed at The Rendezvous Hotel, but I am not kidding when I say that we enjoyed staying at Riverview 100% more, due to the location, more things to do and the staff a lot more hospitable.
One day I shall return!

Mother and daughter
The room was really good, clean, well stocked and quiet. The view from the 19th floor was amazing. The position of the hotel was good for an evening stroll and nice restaurants within easy walking distance. No shops close by but only a 5 minute taxi ride. The shuttle bus wasn't very helpful as the drop off point was at the back of the shops on Orchard Road.
Disappointing that I had requested an early check in but they didn't know anything about it and at 3.30am in the morning I was charged for a full day.
The service in the restaurant was poor. Very slow to serve and very slow to get your order.
The breakfast was cold every morning. They really need to check what temperature food is being stored at and its disappointing to get cold food every morning.

Good location, suitable for short stay
We were able to walk to Chinatown and easily connect via short taxi rides or public transit to local attractions and restaurants. Clean linens and good a/c but decor a bit tired.

1st timer
This was my first ever stay at this hotel, it was chosen for its location to the customers I had to visit whilst in Singapore. Staff were all very friendly and had a good knowledge of the English language. Always a great help. Would definately stay again. Oh, the price ? Expensive however everywhere in Singapore for a quality hotel is expensive.

Hotel was good and value for money. Bed comfortable and room very clean. Was a bit futher out from the main areas, than I realised but the bus was right outside the door so not too much of a problem.

Yes we had a fantastic view of the river. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Very useful free shuttle bus to several points in the city.

Disappointed
My allocated room ended up being a twin room. I rang reception to request a double. They said there was none available. The next night they rang at 10 pm to advise of a room was available!!
They rang the next day as well, but it was all too late.
The Senior Duty Manager had little customer service skills. Never looked you in the eye, just interested to do the paper work. Never asked if the stay was OK. His team of workers at reception appeared to be taught by him.
It is an aging hotel, and hard to compete with the newer hotels in looks - BUT they can gain competitive advantage if they provided superior service.
