The hotel was very good the staff was very courtious and helpful espicallly the bell desk. The rooms were of good size. The only thing that i was not happy with was the breakfast. The choice for the Veg. espically indians was not there. Although they did try to add a thing or two in veg. but that was not good enough. I think the hotel should look into this espically if they are looking for cliental from India. Otherwise it the location was very good, 5 min walk to Takamaisya and Paragon. Right in the middle of Orchard Road.

The staff at the hotel have a lot to learn about hospitality from the bell boy to the room service. They really act as if they are doing you a favour, stayed in other Singapore hotels, this is the worst.

Enjoyed our stay here, room and meals great. Pool was lovely and pool staff were helpful - some more sun loungers would have been an advantage - but no complaints.

Stayed at The York for 4 nights...
Stayed at The York for 4 nights en route to Australia. Couldn't fault it. Although we were out sightseeing a lot, our room was more than adequate, and the choice at the buffet breafast really set us up for the day. We found hotel location convenient with Orchard Rd and the MRT within short strolling distances, especially important in the high-nineties (!) temperatures that we encountered. Staff always happy to help and friendly. No safe in the room but but easy access to security facilities at reception. One last important point - GREAT aircon!

The first room I received when I arrived was not satisfactory, but the next morning I went to the front desk to inquire, and they moved me to a very large room that was extremely nice. I definately think the location, and value are very good. The breakfast was fine, and it was included in the room rate.

This was our 4th choice hotel for Singapore during a heavily-booked period. Probably would not choose to stay there again. Had requested early check-in in non-smoking room which did not materialize until after 4:00 pm. Poorly impressed by service for teenaged daughters, especially at reception. So-so experience.

This is an old delapidated has been hotel which offers and delivers very little. The rooms were large however they smelt of smoke, a dead bird and vomit. The large decaying dead bird was on the ledge in front of our window and despite several request for it to be removed - it remained. The bathroom was well aged and sightly. If you go for a swim the only way to your room is through the busy restaurant and front foyer area. The front desk staff were more engaged with the big tour groups hence you can expect to wait lenghty periods if you need to speak with them. Because of this - no surprise - they tend to be pushy and short with you.
Breakfast was OK but not special. An annoying practise at breakfast in the cafe is that the waiters put the end of one large glass pot of coffee into the new one. This gives the coffee a distinctively strong flavour that leaves a lasting impression.
After travelling extensively around the world over many years this hotel is well below average and as such I would not stay there ever again. I would advise other travellers to stay well away from it also unless the room rate dropped significantly to make it attractive for bottom end travellers.

A very nice Hotel. We were upgraded even thought we arrived 8 hours early due to flight changes. Staff were very friendly and polite. The room size was excellent. We are staying there on our way home.
