The hotel looked welcoming from the outside....
The hotel looked welcoming from the outside. The check-in staff was efficient and friendly. However the room was rather disappointing. It was old and drab. The mattress of one of the beds was overused. I could actually feel the springs sticking out when I ran my hand over it. Fortunately when I told the counter staff about it, a gentleman, I assumed the manager-in-charge, went to my room almost immediately to verify my complaint. He then promised that i would be able to have my good night sleep for the next two nights of my stay as he would pad up the mattress. For this gesture, I was thankful. Unfortunately, my stay was marred by one flaw. I gave feed- back to the management over this case and asked for a reply to one query. But there was no reply. (The letter was placed in the suggestion box). My question was: Having stayed in seven hotels all over Taiwan during the past eight nights, internet service was provided free of charge. Why Santos charged NT100 for one hour of usage and NT300 for one day of usage. I would probably not stay in the hotel again as I think with the amount of money I paid for a room at Santos, I will likely be able to find a newer hotel with better service and facilities.

The staff were superb. Nothing was to...
The staff were superb. Nothing was to much trouble. The Hotel itself was definitely of a good standard. The only problem was that it could have been in a more central location(reason for probably not staying there again). The food was OK,but not really to Western tastes.

The stage and services were perfect. However we would appreciate improvement knowledge of English language. Especially right pronunciation. For guests from Europe the actual state can cause little bit difficulties. Best Regards Antonin Skopec - technical manager

Room is spacious and clean. Breakfast is not fantastic but alright. I even got surprise cake from them since it was my birthday. Nice service with English speaking front desk staff.

Furnishings in the room were quite old....
Furnishings in the room were quite old. Lack of modern air conditioning system - the controller still read temperatures in Fahrenheit and looked like an antique. The bathroom had a stench to it like too many people had smoked in it. Shower curtains in the bath had small blood stains on it (yuck) and were mouldy. Breakfast service was average, limited selection to what you could get in the buffet. Overall probably not worth the money, there are better hotels in Taipei and in more central locations.

I would recommend this Hotel, also had...
I would recommend this Hotel, also had a top notch internal restaurant. Breakfast a combination of Oriental & Western. Staff very helpful, spoken English is average. We stayed there for 5 nights, it was only on the 4th day did I see my first other 'Westerners' at breakfast, but that should not detract you from going there. Most other guests tended to be chinese or japanese. All literature/signs were written in English. Our room was on the 12th floor - no traffic noise. 5 min walk to MRT station which was excellent when you want to do the touristy thing around Taipei. The taxi from the airport was T$1300 for 2 persons, but the highway was very busy in early evening. Expect to normally pay about T$1100 for this journey. (Note, we paid T$110 each to take a coach back to the airport from Taipai Main Coach Station - very cheap)

A very clean hotel with spaceous rooms...
A very clean hotel with spaceous rooms and great a quick responsive staff. I was lost in translation outside the hotel but the multi-lingual staff made the communication easier. I strongly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Taipei.

- Overall room condition was nice. Clean and comfortable. - Hotel offered 1 free breakfirst buffet every day. 2 free bottles of water everyday. 1 plate of fruits (1 apple, 2 oranges, 1 kiwi) per stay. 2 free tea bags per day. A few free toilet gadgets. safety box, and some others. - The breakfirst buffet was good. Some varieties to choose from. Food was better on Saturday and Sunday. I believed they started cleaning up the area around 9:40-9:45 am. - Bathroom was clean, spacious enough. The only complaint I have was that I smelt cigarette smoke every morning in the toilet. I had a non-smoking room. The smoke must be coming from the vent through next door. Besides, the bath tub was designed in the way that water was easily running out to the toilet floor. - Room size was smaller that I expected. But it's just fine for 2. TV remote was hard to use. - It's about 5 minutes of fast walk from hotel to the nearest subway station. The hotel and subway station looked so close on the map, but it's still a bit far when we were actually walking. I think it's close enough. - The service was great. I had hard time getting room TV to work and the service came only 5 minutes after I called them. People there were helpful and courteous. - Although the hotel rate looked a bit expensive, I believe the value was there. I would most probably stay there again during my next visit unless I can find a better hotel deal in that area.

For the price one of the best...
For the price one of the best hotels I have stayed at. The only disappointing element was the poor standard of breakfast. The staff started clearing away most things by 9.15 am so if you arrived at 9.30 forget it. On the plus point the staff were outstanding and could not do enough to make us welcome...Our luggage was lost on route from London and they constantly kept in touch with the airline and us. I cannot say enough about Taipei what a fantastic city with genuinely warm and helpful people this has to be my number one destination. The hotel is also a short stroll to the nearest metro link. On our departure we booked a car from the hotel to the airport and we were genuinely moved to have four members of staff helping with luggage opening car doors and then all four standing on the foot path bowing in unison and waving good bye!!!!. I seriously felt like a visiting head of state!..I would definitely stay here again and in fact will book my return. Wayne Henry& Maciek Kurek

Bathroom taps need to be replaced. The one in the bath was difficult to operate and very difficult to close. I had read on the website that there was internet access in the rooms, but I could not find it in my room, so I could not use my laptop when needed. Service at the front desk was excellent. The porters were very helpful. The restaurant service was also good. They started taking away dishes from the breakfast buffet well before ten o'clock; should really wait with that until ten, and after the guests have gone! Mr & Mrs Ubbo Wiersema
