Good hotel but needs the following
we stayed 13 nights. We recommend the following
1. The same breakfast food was boring after 4 days. It needed variation.
2. Channel 14 was the only English speaking tv channell . A dvd recorder or a proper dedicated movie channell is essential. The tv was an old fashion style.
3. A organised courtesy bus to the night and day markets would have been helfull. A small charge would have been fine.The position of the hotel is a long way from the city attractions.
4. A dedicated bar for alcohol and tappas food would been good day and night with music. The karaoke bar or the coffee lounge should be converted.
Otherwise the hotel was excellent in everything else

I went to Bangkok for plastic surgery, so I needed a quiet place close to my hospital. The staff were all friendly and helpful. The view of the river was wonderful. Breakfasts were included--buffet--and were good. There was a nice lobby and indoor/outdoor bar. Since I was not feeling my best after the surgery, I appreciated the quiet, a little away from the center of the city. However, the couple times I did manage to go out, staff was helpful in recommending where/what to do, and cab rides were cheap. Overall, a good stay, but without the "glamour" of some of other big chain hotels I have stayed in.

I’VE TRAVELLED THE WORLD AND STAYED IN HUNDREDS IF NOT THOUSANDS OF HOTELS; THIS WAS WITHOUT DOUBT THE WORST I HAVE EVER ENCOUNTERED. MY WIFE AND I STAYED HERE AS PART OF OUR HONEY MOON AND THANK THE GODS THAT IT WAS THE LAST 2 DAYS. ON ARRIVAL WE WERE GREETED WITH TRAVEL TOUTS (THAT ARE PART OF THE HOTEL) ASKING ME IF I WANTED TO SEE THE SIGHTS FOR JUST 2000 BHATT, I'D ONLY JUST GOT OUT THE TAXI!! WE WERE GIVEN A ROOM THAT DESPITE REQUESTING A DOUBLE BED (WE WERE AFTER ALL NEWLYWEDS AND THIS WAS EMAILED TO THEM) CONTAINED TWO TINY TWIN BEDS.
I THEN COMPLAINED AND WE WERE MOVED DOWN THE CORRIDOR TO ANOTHER ROOM WITH A DOUBLE, THE PORTERS HUNG AROUND VERY UNCOMFORTABLY EXPECTING A TIP, LITERALLY WOULDN’T LEAVE UNTIL I TOLD THEM TO. AFTER 2 MINUTES HEARD A SCREAM AS MY PREGNANT WIFE WAS POINTING TO THE SEVERAL COCKROACHES ON THE BED AND ON THE CURTAINS. I THEN REPORTED TO THE FRONT DESK AND WE AGAIN MOVED TO ANOTHER ROOM DOWN THE CORRIDOR. THIS TIME I INSPECTED THE ROOM AND ON PULLING THE BED SHEETS BACK I SAW TO MY HORROR HUMAN HAIR IN THE BED! THIS TIME I WENT DIRECTLY TO THE MANAGER, SHE THEN MOVED US AGAIN TO ANOTHER STANDARD ROOM, WE BOTH CHECKED IT AND IT WAS SATISFACTORY BUT DIRTY IN PLACES.
IN SUMMARY THIS HOTEL IS TERRIBLE IT CLAIMS A 4 - 5 STAR RATING BUT IS WAY FAR FROM THAT. I HAVE STAYED IN 1 STAR HOTELS AND HAVE BEEN FAR MORE SATISFIED. WE ARE A COUPLE IN OUR THIRTIES AND I’M A MILITARY MAN SO I'M PRETTY THICK SKINNED BUT THIS HOTEL WAS A NIGHTMARE. THE BREAKFAST WAS COLD AND TASTELESS AND NO EFFORT WAS MADE IN PRESNTATION OR PREPARATION. WHAT MADE ME MOST ANGRY WAS THAT NO UPGRADE OR TOKEN OR GESTURE WAS MADE, IT BASICALLY RUINED THE LAST DAYS OF OUR HONEYMOON.

Despite my confirmed paperwork saying that a late check out was a requirement,i was charged an extra night's stay at the last minute. I had inquired at the front desk and was told late check out was 10 pm and I had paid the required amount. The assistant manager told me I had to pay as requests could not necessarily be accommodated. I had stayed eleven nights and as it was off season the hotel was pretty empty.

The location - on the river - is excellent. It's very pleasant to travel by ferry. Overall, for a couple in their mid sixties, the hotel was a very nice balance between international hotel and local Thai.
We had one of the rooms facing onto the river. The room size was surprisingly large as was the bed.
Reccommended.

Concierge always have self interest in arranging...
Concierge always have self interest in arranging taxis and eventually being overcharged because the drivers will not turn on the meter and concierge quite openly recieve a tip from the driver at our expense, the location is terrible and the front desk staff not at all courteous, felt we were intruding when approaching them, breakfast quite good , this was the second time here within 2 years and will not be coming back

we always have difficulties to get the cheap rate and they always say room not available. we have been a great supporter and i deem we shd be given a gd rate so we can stay with this hotel always. No negative impression of changing to another hotel. Therefore I hope we can be entitle to a gd rate next time we make a reservation. It would be nice if we can have a 2 nite free stay in the hotel cos we are really a gd supporter for this hotel. recommend at least 50-60 guest here already.

Great value for money, nice and clean,...
Great value for money, nice and clean, good room size, lovely swimming pool and 2 or 3 local restaurants in walking distance on the river. The Royal River hotel is a little bit out of the centre - the free river boat is good but sails at limited times. The river taxi pier is only a 5 min walk from the hotel entrance so it's not a problem, but I would like to be in Banglampu next time. That said, the protests went a bit nuts while we were there, so it was good to be out of the centre! Also taxis are cheap to get into the main Bangkok districts, so if you are on a budget and want somewhere a lot nicer than a backpackers, this is great. It's quiet, so if you're after buzzing nightlife, its not for you.
