One of the best hotels, we have ever stayed in and we know many of the top hotels around the world. This seems to be Bangkok's best kept secret and long may it remain this way. This is the epitomy of style.
Staff and service is impeccable. Although the hotel is situated in the commercial centre of Bangkok, it is totally tranquil, with the sound of running water evoking a sense of calm and peace representative of the Buddhist way of life.
The Celadon is quite definately one of Bangkok's best restaurants.

The Sukhothai was simply exceptional in every way. The room was spacious, clean, and modern; the service was excellent, and the food, particularly the breakfast, was superb. This is not a cheap hotel, but luxury comes with a price tag- and this hotel is worth every penny!

Quiet, peaceful, elegant and understated. Superb service. The suites are large with beautiful garden courtyard views. Staff friendly and professional. Top class facilities include, pool, gym as well as several bars and restaurants catering to different tastes. Suitable for discerning travellers and business people. With no passing sightseeers to spoil the ambiance. Not suitable for coach parties, the unwashed masses, one night stands or those seeking either a Glitzy environment or pure minimalism. This is Thai Modern Chic at its best.

Beautiful hotel with excellent facillities. Room was huge - although we did get upgraded. Staff were very freindly and helpful. It was an oasis of calm in the hectic city of Bangkok and I would highly recommed it.

Wonderful hotel. Beautiful architecture and design (furniture, decor, garden & outside). Excellent restaurants allowing anything from light meals to celebratory meals. Staff friendly, efficient and discreet - always there but never imposihg themselves.

The Sukothai is a very beautiful hotel...
The Sukothai is a very beautiful hotel and a very nice change from some of the larger multi-floor hotels. It has a beautiful Thai design and feel complete with water ponds, manicured gardens and buildings that are not more than 4 stories tall. Due to the layout, you do have to walk outside at some point from your room to the lobby, but it was a beautiful walk through the gardens.
The rooms could use a little bit of updating, but overall were nice. They overlook the gardens and are clean and well equipted. Perhaps some new carpet is in order. Also a change to key cards would be more convienient.
The staff were all extremely helpful. The pool is beautiful. The restaurants and meals were great and beautiful. The lobby is done very nicely and the live music was a nice touch. It is a classy hotel without feeling either too stuffy (like the Oriental can be at times) or too generic (like some of the larger hotels can be). The location is ok. It is very close to the Suan Lum Night Market and an easy cab ride to silom or sukomvit. Since it is set back from Sathorn, walking is not the most convienient, but the staff can get you a cab to anywhere within minutes and it never costs more than $2 anywhere in the central city.
It is not for everyone, but if you are looking for a more intimate, and uniquely thai style 5 star hotel, I would definitely recommend the Sukothai

This is a beautiful hotel, and is a nice change from the larger "tower" hotels. It has a very thai feel with water ponds and sculptures throughout. However, the courtyard means that you have to go outside while traveling from your room to the lobby, which some might not like. Personally, I loved walking by the ponds with water lillies and fish every day. The rooms are not too big, but most over look the beautiful gardens which is nice. They could use a little updating however. (for example getting key cards like every other hotel would be a welcome update). The pool and breakfast were also quite nice.
The location is nice and quiet because the hotel is set back from the main road. This makes walking anywhere a bit difficult, but the doormen would always get you a cab within a minute or 2 and it never costs more than $2 to go anywhere in the city.
Be sure to check out Suan Lum Night Market right down the street and Chatuchuck if you are there on the weekend.
The staff at the Sukothai were excellent, professional and helpful and live music in the lobby was also a nice touch. Overall I would recommend this hotel. It is a nice escape from the busy streets of Bangkok
