Spacious, clean room set in lovely gardens - would certainly recommend this hotel. Breakfasts were very good also, however, they had some strange ideas at the Danish pastry counter with things like crab sticks embedded inside a sugary bun - it certainly confused the taste buds.

Felix is a beautiful resort. I highly recommend staying at the Felix Riverkwai resort. It is very short walk to the bridge on the river kwai, the pool is beautiful, food is great and the staff are very friendly especially in the restaurant! Felix Riverkwai resort is a must stay resort!

Felix Riverkwai resort deserves more credit and recognition because it is very under-utilized.
I think it is definitely one of the best deal in Thailand because you can enjoy wonderful views (both river and garden), great swimming pools, friendly staffs, good and affordabler restaurants within the resort, and still you can wander around the bridge, the city or further in the region...
The place to relax from a busy lifestyle!

We spent four nights at the Felix Riverkwai and would have no worries about recommending it to anybody. The rooms were exelent and the facilaties were great, this was our first trip to Thailand and we will return and also stay at this hotel again. Our thanks to the hotel and staff

The Felix Riverkwai hotel is starting to...
The Felix Riverkwai hotel is starting to show its age but is still reckoned to be the best hotel in Kanchanaburi. It is a short drive from the town by car but only a few minutes walk over the famous bridge. My wife and I opted for a delux room on the river bank. Our room was on the ground floor with a footpath outside so unfortunately we were unable to enjoy the view unless we opened the curtains and so let all those walking along the river bank view us too! There were also a few loud "disco boats" cruising the river from quite early in the morning. The room was quite large and clean but a few mosquitos managed to find their way in. The hotel facilities are quite good - there is a large pool and several restaurants. Staff were friendly enough but spoke limited English. we will certainly stay there again but probably in a cheaper standard room.

This is a very nice "resort" that seemed to be very under-utilised while I was there in mid-January 2005. The only interruption to the absolute peace and quiet was the occasional river boat zipping past. The resort does look a little dated in areas, but it is still a GREAT place to chill out away from it all.
The staff are great, and seem to warm to you after a while.
Unfortunately my last morning there was spoiled when, on returning to my room after a quick breakfast, I found the door "latched" from the inside, a "black" access card in the lighting slot (which I assume service staff have to access any room) and there was obviously "someone" in my room. This person heard me banging on the door and exited through the "balcony" door. There was no means of contacting reception without walking the 100 meters to the reception desk, an option which would have given the thief a simple escape... instead I stood my ground and waited him out, banging on the door etc.
I then found a "maintanence" guy up on the roof who I got to open my door.... finding that my valuables had been disturbed but nothing taken, and finding the balcony door unlocked (he couldn't lock it on his way out)... I decided to take no further action, although quite certain the maintanence man was infact the culprit, it was going to be a)very hard to prove, and b) even harder to communicate what had happened, given the fact that nothing was stolen.
I will add that the reason my valuables weren't locked in the room safe was because the room safe didn't work.
So as you've been told over and over, DO NOT leave anything of value in your room, in ANY hotel, at any time. I have travelled all over Thailand for a number of years, and this is the first time anything like this has happened, I still shudder to think of the deep trouble I'd have been in (money, passport, credit cards all gone) if I'd lingered any longer at the breakfast table that morning.

Excellent resort. Terrific rooms, very efficient, friendly front office staff. Great eating, good entertainment. River dinner cruise stops serving alcohol half way through journey! Not much value, nearly all in darkness. Resort is highly recommended.

This is the best located hotel for visits to the Bridge on the River Kwai. If you are prepared to walk over the bridge then taxis to town and other sites are cheaper. If not then shuttles and taxis from the hotel may seem expensive.
The hotel tours desk was non-existent whilst we were there. They could not even be contacted by phone from the hotel staff who tried their best. They ended up arranging a local tour guide for us who proved excellent. Name and phone number can be given if anyone is interested.
