Went to Kanchanaburi for a weekend trip...
Went to Kanchanaburi for a weekend trip and found this hotel to be of decent value. We had a 1st-floor River View room. The scenery here is great as its situated along the Kwai River with a small pathway along the entire stretch of the resort. Morning/afternoon strolls are lovely. They also had a very nice garden and pool with a hoop for those interested in serious swimming. I would make the pleasant decor and relaxing scenery as the prime reason for booking this hotel.
Service was great, check-in was a breeze. Had problems with the air-con at 12am and a repairman immediately showed up to promptly resolve the issue. They have all the amenities expected of a resort with bicycle rental, restaurants, a bar, karaoke, pool tables, massage, sauna, etc. The great thing about these facilities is that most of the time you'll be the only ones using it. There are hardly guests around.
On the other hand this hotel is noticeably old with the rooms and bathtub showing reasonable wear and tear. The bed and pillows were also painfully hard. The location is also a bit out of the way. It's across the river from the main road and not easy to access, but the hotel does arrange for excursions. We had a rental car so this wasn't an issue for us. If budget is a concern we'll also have to say that this resort is on the pricey side.
We also noticed that this hotel is often used as a destination for school field trips and government or company retreats so it may get noisy if you happen to get lucky. But don't me wrong, I would definitely recommend this resort for those of you visiting the Kanchanaburi area.
