Hotel looks new as compare with the others in the town. Room is spacious and comes with a sea view.
Hotel staff are generally friendly and helpful but was unable to provide an umbrella when it was raining.
Corridor outside the room smells and feel dusty.
Breakfast is at the 19th floor resturant with an excellent seaview. Location wise, it is situated away from the crowded central area which is 10mins walk away (note: you may also take the taxi-bike for less than 40baht to travel there). There is a bus station situated just opposite the hotel that provide express bus service to various provinces at attractive rates.

If you are arriving in from the airport and planning on going onto Phi Phi then this is an excellent good value location for a couple of nights to recover from the journey, adjust to the new time and temperature. The pool is lovely so is the breakfast and you're in easy reach of the shops and the port. We did a half day out to Patong easily by public transport. Good welcome and easy departure.

My wife and I enjoyed our visit to the Royal Phuket City Hotel where we stayed four nights. The staff were efficient and friendly with a service mentality. The facilities were good, including a comprehensive fitness centre and swimming pool on the roof of the third floor. We hope that the exodus of tourists that followed the tsunami of 26 December last year may be reversed. Natural disasters can strike anywhere. In our opinion, Phuket offers a good holiday experience and the hotel offered particularly good value for money.

An excellent hotel. Breakfast was very good and the view from the restaurant (located at top of hotel) was spectacular. Hotel food prices are cheap. I got there at 9.45 in the morning and they checked me in free of charge. The complimentary drinks were tasty. The room was spacious and very clean. The bathroom was well-kept. The entertainment on the television was of a good variety especially for children. The Royal City Phuket hotel's staff were very helpful and friendly. I advise if you wish to see the island, perhaps wise to hire an off-duty staff member. Otherwise, negotiate with others outside. To figure out a good price, compare the price of renting a car to the offer price. One word of advice: rub some insect repellant on your skin when you are outside. I would definitely use this hotel again. The inhabitant of Phuket have gotten on with their lives after the Tsunami. Most of the affected areas have been repaired. However, the island is suffering from the lack of tourists. I would advise foreigners to visit because the island is quite beautiful and relaxing.

Was there 1/6/05. Royal City Hotel is located in great location. Room had a great view of lagoon. But smelly of cigarette though, although cleaner make attempt to airfreshner the room. Friendly staff and receptions. Not advisable to take taxi or tuk-tuk in front of hotel as they tend to ask too much.

The Royal City hotel location is nice if you need to be in downtown Phuket. The lobby and common area are great; the room is somewhat dated but spacious, and the breakfast buffet is nice. Hotel service was OK; beware of the phone charge: I asked the front desk to call my airline in Bangkok to change my flight and was charged almost $10 U.S. dollars! If you must eat in the main restaurant, their food is OK but not cheap you're better off at smaller eating places near by. We did get a great price thru Asiarooms, and it was well worth the money.

Royal City hotel is a nice place to stay, yet staff at the front desk not to friendly.
Also best to book room though this site as alot cheaper.
Close to shopping centre and has a great outdoor restartant just across the road.
