This hotel was disappointing to say the least. The room was small, smelly and full of insects. The bathroom was the same. It was all very old and very 90s.
The resort was good, with a variety of facilities and it was right on the beach. There are a couple of local restaurants within walking distance, as well as a massage place which was handy.
The location could have been better as it was too far to walk to Patong or to the local market.
The room however, was so awful that I wouldn't consider going back. The only good thing about the room was the TV choices..they had more English channels than most hotels.

What wonderful helpful staff. As always it is the people that make a place. It is a very big hotel and probably a little too big for my liking, but is in a very pretty location and is well kept. Great for families. The food at some of the night buffets are rubbish and very poor quality. Breakfast is great though and worth adding to your package. Everything is clean and friendly. Surrounding area is not over inhabited by other hotels so it has a nice quiet feel which is hard to find in Phuket.
It is a big hotel designed for profit and as such lacks the boutique feel. Great for package travellers who just want sun and pools and a beach.

Facilities were clean and modern. Location was far away from the bar scene, but close enough if you want a taste. Food was excellent, beach was clean, surf was breaking if you want to rent a board.
We never left the resort! Very relaxing, and the staff was amazing.
We have a two year old boy and the entire staff from the reception, restaurants, kids club and pool staff were amazingly friendly and helpful.
5 star facilities, location and service for a VERY reasonable price.
Most of the guests had stayed there before, and we will certainly be back for more Thai experiences.

My third stay at the Kata Thani hotel and I will be back again.
The service is spot on, the setting is amazing and the facilities are great.
Perfect location to chill out for a few days or longer if you have the time.
I'm already planning my next trip back!

Great hotel with fine service and beach. I hade room nr 1202 and I am still wondering if it was "grand suite" with 75 sq.m. I think it was smaller. Was it "junior suite"?

Total disappointment!We stayed for 2 nights in the Junior Suite and there were ants all over the bathroom and room.The temperature of the shower would constantly abruptly change to either really hot or really cold,which made it very unpleasant.On our last night,our air-conditioning was not functioning as it was blowing hot air.We had to call the servicemen at 2 a.m because we could not sleep.The towels did not smell as fresh as it should and the spa is not up to the standards of the "name" of the resort.Overall,the quality of the room is extremely substandard and I think the rooms need to be refurbished since the rates they charge are not that cheap.A couple of good things I can say about the resort is the friendly staff and the beach(which is a public beach).I emailed the resort,informing them of our recent unpleasant stay,and they still have not replied me back.To put it in a nutshell,it is not worth it!

Our stay in Katathani was excellent! The lovely hotel was excellently located, on a quiet beach, yet, only a very short tuk tuk ride away form the action of the neigbouring Kata and Karon beaches.
The hotel is a large 4-5 star hotel, so do not come here with the expectation of a small boutique-hotel-type of intimacy. Instead, expect spacious gardens and beautiful pools with good service.
The hotel facilities were well maintained and clean, the gardens around the three pools were beautiful and there was enough sun loungers for everyone. (Time of visit was late March.) As a bonus compared to other hotels on the Phuket main beaches, Katathani hotel is located right on the beach, so there is no road to cross to get to the beach! The hotel layout would be perferct for a family with children, or a couple on romantic holiday.
On the negative side, the breakfast facility of Katathani was large and extremely noisy with the sounds of plates and utensils clicking and clacking loouder than the mumble of the conversations. Maybe the hotel could invest a bit more in reducing the noise level and provide a true 4-5 star breakfast experience.
The room (junior suite)itself was very nice and clean, with attention to interior. The size of the room was however quite small compared to the price of the room. I did not feel I was in a suite, rather only in a normal room with nicer interior (Delux type of room). Therefore I think I was paying too much for the room.
The staff of the hotel was extremely considerate and friendly greeting you always when passing on the grounds. The attention was taken to the detail that when we had to visit the hotel nurse for minor sickness, on the evening when returning to the room, there was a basket of orchids waiting for us with a get well note from the hotel!
Overall, me and my husband were very satisfied with our stay in Katathani, would recommend it to our fiends and would return again.

The Kata Thani Hotel Phuket is the place to go if you want to chill out without the crowds. The facilities are amazing, if one pool is too noisy for you then head over to the "quiet" pool for peace and quiet. To step from the hotel grounds directly onto the beach is amazing. The rooms are lovely and spacious and have amazing views of the ocean - Junior suites or Grand suites.
Restaurants are good and the food is reasonably priced for a hotel.
This was my second stay at the hotel and already I have booked to go back again in a few months.
