Some small complaints but otherwise good
First the niggles: the rubber bathmat in room 228 was mouldy and needs replacing and the chromium sink tap area (not easy to clean) needs a good cleaning. My king-size bed request was fulfilled by pushing two single beds together. Indeed 228 is a designated twin room and shouldn't be used for double bed bookings. Having said that, the maids couldn't have been more friendly and caring. Overall, the Seaview is beginning to show its age: I can only speak for 228, but the wooden floor needs sanding and revarnishing. Paint & plaster is, in some places, coming off the walls around the Seaview and needs maintenance.
I have stayed at the Seaview before and would stay again but with some reservations. In particular, I think it has reduced in comparative value for money even when booking through a bulk agency with discount. And why - at these prices - wi-fi to the room is not free is ridiculous. In my opinion, the management has to address this most urgently. To be charged 100 baht for one hour or 300 baht for one day is extortionate. $10AUD per day is $70AUD a week which in turn is $3500AUD+ per year!!! An amount which only top management at the Seaview could possibly earn...Come on Seaview, waken up!
Now for the best aspects: The food is superb - particularly for dinner which I found to be as good as I have ever had anywhere in the world. The breakfast buffet is excellent. The friendliness and willingness of the entire staff is the Seaview's strongest point. Particular mention should refer to the room maids who are without peer regardless of my particular cleaning 'niggles'... . Location is superb: at the end of Patong Beach and quiet and close to the Ocean View Bar which is staffed by the friendliest, most gregarious and most fun bar girls -perhaps because they are mainly from Isaan province and I love Isaan people! As I do all Thais! I shall be back later this year and I hope the Seaview pays attention to my remarks.
