Nice ... with a few buts.
Checkin was quick and we, surprisingly, were given a room upgrade. Thank you. The Hotel is divided in two ... adults only section and family section. This is a great feature as it was always quiet around the pools and public areas. I don't know if it was the time of year, but 95% of the guests were from Europe, and they tend to just want to lie around the pool all day ... which is fine. It also means that there is a degree of smoking in the restaurants ... not nice. The hotel rooms tend to be quite noisy. Perhaps its the lack of carpeting and the great expanses of concrete and tiles... but we seemed to be woken by hotel noises throughout the night and the noisy rattle of the maids trollies early in the morning. The location couldn't be better ... out the back gate onto the beach. The included buffet breakfast is fine, except that for the last couple of days, someone decided to save the Hotel some money and the juices were so wattered down as to be unrecognisable as juice. Maybe new staff. Internet was a bit of a complex issue. There is free slow speed wifi in the foyer (apparently) ... except my laptop couldn't pick it up. High Speed internet in the room costs 200 Baht for 1 hour. In some rooms you need a lan cable, in some it works by wifi. Customer Service was excellent, although the staff are hamstrung by Hotel policy somewhat. It took 30 minutes to check out ( and we were the only customers at the desk) ... as they have to send someone to check your mini bar and count the silverware. Lucky we weren't trying to catch a flight. In summary, great location ( nicer than Patong Beach), good facilities, nice restaurants and nice and friendly staff. Just let down by complicated and expensive internet, smoking in the restaurants and noisy premises.

Great Stay at Kamala Beach
This hotel complex is positioned right next to the beach at Kamala. The sandy beach is long and clean and the sea safe for bathing. The hotel provides good sized swimming pools (8 I think) which were not overcrowded even though the hotel has many rooms. In fact the place was quite tranquil and restful. Children have their own pool areas and for the active, aerobics and water sports are played in one pool. Another has a water bar. So one is able to choose an environment for how you are feeling each day. We liked it very much and so spent most of the time around the pools.
In the evening good international and Thai meals were available from the hotel restaurant. One could also meandre on the beach at night around the shops and dine in one of the beach beach restaurants which were also very nice. There is also a high street within walking distance for shopping and dining out. Variety can be built in to a good holiday.

the absence of staff around the pool means that you have to open your umbrella and towells get left on seats to reserve them - there is little/no shade around the pool.
Room service plates etc were left in passageways for up to 2 days.

Hotel with beach front
Just came back from a wonderful holiday with my family and neighbours. This was our second visit at Sunprime Resort at Kamala Beach. Harold, the person in charge of reservation, was very professional and our accomodation was well taken care of. He had offered to upgrade us to the new wing which is more spacious and new but we declined as we preferred to be nearer the beach.
The only complaint I have for this trip is probably the musky smell in our rooms which would not fade away even when we had our balcony doors opened and the ventilation fan switched on in the bathroom.
The F & B staff were extremely efficient and some of them even remembered us from our last trip there.
The price for massages are the same throughout the stretch of beach and also from the hotel itself. I preferred to have my massage done in the hotel as it looks cleaner and more comfortable.
There are many small restaurants near the hotel with many offering fresh sea-food. Prices are very reasonable. No need to go to Patong Beach for shopping as there are many stalls along the beach and also in the town area (walking distance) which offer good bargains. For those visiting Phuket for the first time, it is worth making a trip to Patong Beach just for the experience. The ride on the tuk tuk is quite scary as they go very fast down the hill and around corners.
Will recommend this hotel to those seeking to get away from the hectic city life. Children below 15 years are not allowed here but there is Sunwing Hotel just beside
SunPrime with activities catered to yojng children.

The hotel is nicely located at Kamala Beach - quiet place free of traffic and loud music. The beach lies literally just a couple of meters from the hotel, which is the biggest venue at Kamala, so few beach resturants and shops are located around. You can also take a few minutes walk to the village to the south of hotel to find more places to eat or drink. For shopping and nightlife Patong is the best place - it takes c. 20 mins to get there. As tuktuk or taxi is quite expensive there (300 baht) you can rent a motorbike in hotel or one of locations in the village. However, as road runs through the hills I don't recommend it to someone not familiar with driving in south-east Asia. Entertainment park FantaSea is very close to the hotel, 10-15 mins of walk, and it is definetly worth of seeing - the show is great. Overall - this hotel is good for people looking for quiet holiday with sun bath, gentle sandy beach or just taking a rest at the swimming pool. The hotel is under extension works to the rear but it didn't cause any inconvienience to me. Rooms are large and well maintained, bathrooms could be a little better (I stayed in Deluxe with sea view). Stuff very helpful, good restaurant and bar, breakfast american, but buffet and incl. Thai food as well, so good.

The rate is expensive compared to the same quality of other hotels in Phuket. Swimming pool is dangerous because the edges of the pool have many broken tiles. My kid got a cut on his knee, but the hotel staff did not show much responsibility.

My husband and I, and our 2 children (age 12 and 10) enjoyed our stay. Service was good and hotel was in a quiet location (what we wanted). The only things we might have liked improved - a reading lamp in the room (room was rather dark at night, and we could not read), and that food ordered through room service is covered between the kitchen and the room. Also there were lots of mosquitoes when we were there. Breakfast spread was good, and hotel staff were friendly and helpful. We would most likely go back again sometime.

Great value for money. Close to the airport. Great with two pools and close to the beach. The breakfast was large and tasty.
The staff is very friendly, maybe not perfectly english speaking, but service minded.
Negative:
We booked the ground floor garden rooms and there was some noice from guests passing by and sitting outside. And from hundreds of frogs that were very much in love at the time we stayed there. :) Bring earplugs and there is no problem.
One annoying pling-plong-Christmas music record was played all day the entire week (week before X-mas). Please, at least change into some Bing Crosby/Frank Sinatra Christmas CD. But the lights in the palm trees was fun.
This is not a luxury hotel, but we definately recommend it. Great value for money if you want to stay close to the beach!
