We chose this hotel because it offered...
We chose this hotel because it offered reasonable rates for seaview rooms but of the 6 rooms we booked, only 2 offered unblocked and clear views of the sea. The other rooms had the view blocked because of 2 large and tall trees. Definitely not worth paying money for partial views! But we can still tolerate that cos it is no real fault of the hotel.
However, what was not acceptable was the unprofessional and rather sloppy service offered by the hotel staff, especially the front desk counter staff. We checked in and were offered 5 rooms on the 5th level and 1 on the 4th, with assurance from the staff on duty that she will change it to the same level as the rest when available. The next day when we asked, her reply was that it was not possible because the other rooms were to be occupied by frequent guests who have requested for the rooms. I would have appreciated if she had been more upfront when we checked in and not try to wiggle her way by an empty promise that she knew she could not fulfill. She was curt and very unfriendly when she said that she did not promise me that a room was definitely available. Furthermore, the rest of the staff present at the counter that morning - there were 3 of them - were laughing and joking amongst themselves when they were so-called "checking" the status of the rooms for me. Another incident which showed their lack of professionalism was when I was asked to show my receipt for payment when I checked out cos the counter staff was unsure whether she has collected payment from me.
Lastly, I would to add that one side of the rooms faces the hillside and snakes were seen in the trees there. I would definitely not go back to this hotel again when I visit phuket.

When booking we asked for a room...
When booking we asked for a room overlooking the smaller north pool as we were familiar with the hotel layout as we had stayed there on a previous holiday. On arrival (April 10, 2008, Room 2108) we given a room at the back of the hotel with a view of the back of another block. It seems that not only did the staff ignore our request (we booked 2 months in advance)but appeared to go out of their way to annoy us with this allocation. When we complained the receptionist was far from helpful and almost rude even though she had a printed e-mail of our request for the poolside room. On checking out we had to be out by 12noon but during that morning the water was cut off and when it was back on was brown. When we requested an extension of a couple of hours to check out due to this they insisted we had to be out by 12. We did hear another couple complaining at the reception on a previous day regarding the water problem. There are many cats roaming around and at breakfast one had messed in the restaurant area and despite another guest asking for it to be cleaned up it remained there for the duration of breakfast. I should say though that overall the hotel is lovely in a lovely location but due to the amount of steps not suitable for elderly or the unfit. It does appear that standards have slipped since we last went there in Nov 2006.

Very nice view over Kata beach(from sea view room). Friendly staff. Pool area ok, breakfast and food good. Nice spa. Lot of stairs and no lift all the way. Room needs renovation, especially bathroom. Cleanliness good, but the room smelled very damp like a cellar.Good air conditioning. Safety box in the room.

we get a much better and really nicer hotel on koh samui for less money in the same season.

A room with a view! Do yourself...
A room with a view! Do yourself the favour of booking a sea view-room. It is spectacular even after thai-standards to sit at your balcony, watching the sun set in the horizon, reflecting in the sea.
The service is outstanding and the location, near to the Kata beach in the quiet end, is perfect. The rooms are nice but not luxurious. The Breakfast Buffet is splendid and the staff in the top of the scale of friendly-but-professional, even in Thailand.
Our family of five enjoyed 10 wonderfull days here - for the second time. Lars, Denmark
