If you're going to stay in a hotel, that has been is use for more than 100 years, you know you can't expect the latest features, but the furniture and many other things could sure use some "refreshments" Staff was very friendly, and no real complaints. The noise, well, staying in Vietnam, it is something that you will have to get used to. Better noise isolation however, would be very appreciated.
Generally very comfortable hotel to stay while on a short holiday in HCMC. Very good and convenient location for walkabout to tourist spots and shops. Even going to Ben Thant Market takes only 7 minutes walk. Deputy General Manager met us every morning at breakfast and made us feel very welcome. However staff at Reception not customer friendly and could smile more like reception staff at other even 3 star hotels in HCMC. Maybe the staff there need more training or even be changed.
Really beautiful hotel. It reminded me of Raffles in Singapore. Great value for money. Great location most tourist spot just walking distance. They upgraded us for free to the oriental suite. The room was unbelievably huge and the french windows which opened to a balcony overlooking the opera house was just fantastic and so beautiful it was like paris or something. We will come back again definately. Really enjoyed our stay
Looks nice from outside but run down inside - looks like it hasn't been decorated for 30 years in the room. We booked a room for 2 adults and 1 child but they tried to give us a twin room with no room for the kid. When I threatened to cancel and block payment they gave a decent sized room. The breakfast was good. It could be a nice place if they decorate more. Not worth the hype.
We had a very nice three nights at the Continental in Saigon. The room was quite large with a nice bathroom with a bath and seperate shower. We found our room to be quiet and were able to sleep late.
Breakfast was a nice relaxing affair, not crowded with plenty on offer. The staff were in the background ready to assist if you needed them.
Twice we needed to call reception for help, both times someone came to our room with in a very short time to help us.
When the time came to leave the staff arranged a taxi, carried our bags out for us and gave us a nice big wave good bye.
The location is fantasting and superb.Halal food was just a walking distance. For transport look out for vinasun taxi.No other taxi than this u can trust.Ask the price first before you commit to them.
We chose the Continental at the end of our trip for a little comfort. We were upgraded to a suite and the room was big and spacious. A view of the Opera house. Close to everything as we like to walk everywhere. The courtyard setting for breakfast is lovely and it is worth a trip to the bar upstairs for a drink and a game of pool. A hotel with a lot of history. Very clean and staff always willing to help.
A very nice hotel to stay in - very good value, service and food. Great location, walking distance to majority of sites of interest. Several restaurants also near by. I would stay there again.
The hotel is one of the oldest, may be the oldest, of Saigon. It is located right in the middle of district 1. For somebody, like us, who like the colonial style this hotel is a must. We had a room in the third floor (there are only three floors) which was very huge. The direct view to the Opera House made it a little noicy but there was no difference for us living in Bangkok. The staff was very friendly. The breakfast was good. We had an evening flight but after check-out at noon we could store our luggage and before leaving we could have a shower in the spa-rooms. All in all a very good hotel which we can really recommend.
