Our stay in Pal Haveli was actually very pleasant. Our room was very spacious and comfortable. On the down side: (1) The bathroom is not that big (specially compared to the size of the room), and the Indian style of shower is not what you would expect when you’re paying that amount of money (not so comfortable to get you’re feet all wet every time you enter the bathroom); (2) The fact that the hotel (or some of their staff) act as touts by charging 100% more than the real price of bus tickets or 25% more than the price of postal stamps seams exaggerated particularly when we requested exactly the same service in Jaisalmer to return to Jodhpur and were requested a fixed fee for the service of booking the bus and were told the real value before hand. On top of that the staff member that arrange the bus ticket had the nerve of saying that that bus was much better than the one mentioned in the travel guide because it didn’t stop (in fact it stopped 16 times). For us an hotel is a haven where we can go back to relax and let our guard down when travelling in a place where touts are all around – it’s a great disappointment to find touts inside the hotel and because of that we would not return.

| "We were very oleased to be collected by Pal Haveli`s driver from the station! The hotel is in a great location and we used their reccomended tuk tuk driver Habib for the days sight seeing...he was excellent!!
The best though was the room, suite....and the restaurant which served some of the best food we had had in India.
The fort is a must, get the audio guide!!
All in a all a great stay!!
Many thanks Pal Haveli

| "The Pal Haveli is styled after the fort here, huge blocks of stone, BIG steps, massive archways, and a dirt courtyard. It is very “sturdy” rather than "airy". The restaurant is on the rooftop and we must first go down then up and up the massive steps. Whew! The location is great with the Fort just above the courtyard and the Clock Tower/market right outside the door. Won the "best laundry service" of our trip to India." |
