"i have stayed at the ambassador many times before in mumbai and have to say whilst it needs updating it's still pretty good value in a city where hotels are quite pricey. unlike when staying in a resort and looking for a plush pad to wake up in, have siestas and retire to mumbai (especially the churchgate side) is all about being out from dusk till dawn if not even later so the ambassador works really well - well placed for tourist attractions like the gate of india elephanta etc and well placed for restaurants and bars like the dome. the new manager was fantastically helpful but a word of warning -do not be temoted to go for a marine drive view room unless you want to be woken up by traffic noises at 6pm it really was very irritating! oh and don't waste money on the room servce food no matter how tired from your flight = it dreadful"

"We found this hotel to be quite good, excellent breakfast with wide choice and a very good Restaurant in the evening. Service was very good and standard of rooms quite good, spacious. Very helpful and courteous staff. It would have been nice to have had somewhere to sit and have a drink, there wasn't really anywhere to do that. There was a garden and bar area but that was being re-furbished and not available. It was well situated with easy access to most sights. We would be happy to recommend depending on the requirements of course. Ann Jones and Kath Sole."

"Hotel is old, rooms are small, noisy, and very expensive. yet, the location is good, service is very good"

"I read good comments from some and bad from the others. It confused me a lot, especially those from TripAdvisory. I made a try and it is good place though. Please remember that you are paying about 250SGD for a hotel in Mumbai, u may expect something like 150USD in Manhattan or 80 Pounds in London. Hotel room-rate in Mumbai is just so high. If you really want to experience first-class service, I recommend to stay in ITC Grand Central, Leela Hotel, Taj Palace, JW Marriott, and Four Seasons (coming soon). For a business traveler, this hotel provides clean room, good hospitality, nice breakfast, reasonable value-add service. I stayed in the hotel for 6 days and I have no issue at all. The exterior is downgraded but the interior is kept cleaned. Location-wise, it is depends. It locates in the tip South of Mumbai that could take 3 hrs of traveling from airport (for about 30km distance). It is near the old colonial landmark - Church-gate - One of the most beautiful place in Mumbai (but don't expect to see much from here). It's just next to the Oberoi and Hilton, Intercontinental and has partial sea-view. Remember that Mumbai is really huge and traffic is terrible so make sure to get the hotel near to your office area. Renting car hear is about 1600 INR (40USD) for 8hr (very standard price) and internet is about 160 INR per hour (or 500 INR per day) - again very standard. You may have to pay 5500 INR to get a luxury car from five star hotel or 600 INR for 1 hour of internet in those hotels. So I let you decide your choice. The reason why I know a lot of such things because I am hotelier and I need to travel, research and stay in many hotels. However, hospitality level in Mumbai is very good (everywhere). "

"It seems almost extortionate to book a decent hotel in Mumbai, and I was hesitant to pay the said rates for what was described as an aging, decrepid hotel. However I was pleased with my stay, and would re-visit. The staff are friendly, room service was good and most importantly the rooms are of the quality you would expect. The only downside is the lack of sound-proofing, other then that, good solid hotel!"

"Spacious and clean room, tasty & ample breakfast buffet, nice and friendly staff. Great location. A bit pricey but worth the money. "

"This hotel's strong point was its location; in the centre, just a stone's throw from the Marine Drive. The room was nice (looked like an English B&B!), and I liked the decor in the bathroom. There's a fantastic French restaurant in the hotel called "Society" and a revolving Chinese restaurant on the top with wonderful views over Mumbai. Pity no garden or pool, but this is a good, clean and reasonably priced hotel."

"Excellent location at down town Mumbai to explore this city. Room, bathroom and sheets were all clean, like one whould expect from a good hotel in Europe. Airconditioner worked well with sufficient capacity. Reliable and fast WiFi access for portable computer cost Rs. 50 (for 30 min.) Very frendly and helpfull staff. Excellent Continental/English/Indian breakfast buffet with freshly prepared waffels and eggs "as you wish them". Not real cheap, but good value for money."

"We found the hotel to be well located for our needs. The staff were very helpful and welcoming. One thing that we would have appreciated was having information in the room about suggested places to visit and information about the hotel itself. There was no information about check out times, restaurant times and general hotel facilities,"

"The facilities are rather poor. No coffe making in the room. It was noisy on the floor outside the room. I would rate this with max. 2 Stars. The price should be half at the most. Thed location is too far away from airport and business district."
