Comfy, clean, central location for the south of the city, really helpful staff, good facilities. Standard room was more than adequate and reasonably priced, especially given the excessive prices elsewhere in Mumbai ... I'm happy to recommend this hotel based upon my experience, and I'd stay there again.

| "The staff at the hotel were extremely helpful and nothing was too much trouble - even when our arrangements to travel by train to Delhi fell through. The rooms are lovely - we tried all 3 floors - the Mediterranean has the nicest rooms - because we asked to move to a less noisey room and needed an extra night. Tip: there is a club on the first floor of the building which goes on till 2.45 am! Try to get a room on the other side of the hotel and on the top floor. The restaurant downstairs is good and worth at least one meal. The hotel is very centrally placed for the Colaba area and for Fort. Overall, this is a great hotel if you want a base for exploring south Mumbai. There are lots of cool clubs, bars and restaurants in the streets around the hotel." |

| "Good hotel, nice location and clean, but extremely noisy,I had hammering all day long on account of renovations on the floor abpve and at night the night club ensured that one was kept awake till the wee hours.

| "The room was very good, but the bathroom rather small and cramped in design. Really nice touches - especially things like a shaving kit and stationery kit in the room. Although on the 4th floor, one night we were aware of the nightclub on the first floor until 2.30am - drum and bass reverberating through the bed - why on earth put a night club in the middle of a hotel - surely the aim of a hotel is to provide a good night's sleep - totally illogical.
A shame there was no bar - unless you were happy sitting the restaurant, which we did once, then reverted to having a pre-dinner drink in the room. No real public space.
Staff were all very good and we're likely to stay again, as the location is good." |

| "The Gordon House is clean, the service staff is helpful and polite, the rooms are large, and the location could not be better. It's very close to the Gateway of India (which is also where boats to Elephanta Island depart -- we could not recommend that trip more, by the way), and Bombay University is nearby. It is also extremely close to the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel. BUT people are not exaggerating when they say noise from the nightclub can be heard from rooms on the second floor. We accepted a room on the second floor because we were staying on two early weekdays and thought maybe the club wouldn't be open. I am a fairly heavy sleeper (my bedroom in New York is on a low floor and faces the street), but this level of noise was laughable -- fast, pulsing bass and techno loops. Even the lobby on the second floor was absurdly loud -- it must drive the check-in staff crazy. We brought earplugs, but they didn't help. We finally requested that they move us to another room, and they did. We could STILL hear the noise from the third floor, but it was considerably quieter than the second floor and we were able to sleep. DO NOT STAY ON THE SECOND FLOOR. We're not light sleepers or high-maintenance travelers, and we still considered the noise to be ridiculous. " |
