Would I stay at this location
again:

Most likely
Location could be a problem, because of the narrow access alley but I felt perfectly safe even returning at night. It is in the middle of a bustling market area, enjoyable to walk through, and also a stome's throw from the Red fort and major mosques and temples. Hotel is good value for money, staff are really friendly and obliging, and restaurant serves good food at reasonable prices.

"The staff is very friendly and helpful and room service is good too. The two things which are against this hotel is the location (very difficult to find and definately not safe for single women travellers) and the fact that it is very noisy with their echoing halls and the fact that the doors don't really go all the way to the floor. Another thing is that there are windows above the doors which let light through and the light in the halls is on all night...."

"The hotel is located in an alley in the busy (and interesting) cycle market, very close to the Red Fort and just off Chandi Chowk. The Metro is a short walk away. The hotel is hard to find - there is an unlit sign at the entrance to the alley. We advised the management to put a light there. The hotel itself is newly and attractively renovated, and completely clean. Everything in our room worked, including good cable TV reception. A generous breakfast is included, and 24-hour room service is available. At the time of our visit, free internet access had just been set up in the lobby. The staff were friendly and very helpful. "

"Tara Palace is very clean and well kept. We stayed at a five star in mumbai prior to tara and honestly it wasn't so far apart in terms of cleanliness and service. Sure the room we got was not very big, and had only one window with a view but we only used it for sleeping and freshing up so it was fine. There was hot water both nights we were there. Breakfast was satisfactory. We had to leave early the first morning to Agra and Tara accomodated our request to have a slightly early breakfast, ie 6.15 instead of 6.30. The only downside is its location which really gave our airport cab a run around chandni chowk. Especially since he didn't speak english which made it impossible for us to talk to him. It might be helpful to provide guests with a map or landmarks to help get to the hotel. We had no idea Tara is only accessible by foot or the rickshaw. The alley was a bit daunting especially at night. Good thing we had a small flashlight. It's just a three minute walk from the main access road but very dark at night. The area around Tara Palace is not very pleasing to the eyes but, if you are just looking for a place to sleep and want to be near the bazaar for good bargaining, Tara Palace is not a bad choice. Good for budget travellers and adventurers, definitely not suitable for a romantic getaway... ps/ the 'complimentary' mineral water offered when you arrive is actually bottled drinking water and we were charged for it. Good thing we had some rupees left. So if you brought your own mineral water, you can just decline the offer."
