The hotel is in beautiful setting with a nice outlook and well tended gardens. The pool looked very nice though would have benefited from being cleaned. The food both breakfast and evening meals was poor probably the worst I have tasted in India; bland and stodgy.

| "Nice hotel, beautiful location. Make sure you have cash though because the swipe machine isn't always working and you might not be able to pay for your room with a card." |

| "The rooms aren't that big, but perfectly adequate and comfortable. Having said that we got upgraded to a lovely room that you entered directly from the reception area (which was a bit strange), but the room was beautiful.
The location, with Orchha's senotaphs visible over the hotel roof, and the river and medieval bridge to be seen from the back of the hotel, is marvelous. The reception is wonderfully ornate and the pool area is surrounded by murals - but service if you want a drink poolside is something you may have to go and look for rather than coming to you!
The restaurant looks gorgeous and we had some nice food a la carte (the buffet didn't appeal so much however so didn't try it). The restaurant has a door directly to the outside eating/pool area and you can also get in from the front without going through reception, for non-guests to eat, so this may not indicate anything - but we did see a mouse/rat in the restuarant. Bad hygiene generally or it just snuck in as a one-off? Could be either, we didn't get ill there anyway and we had two dinners and two breakfasts.
Probably one of the nicest places to stay in Orchha, which is lovely, although the Amar Mahal is a little posher we think. Nice little shop too. Certainly didn't regret booking to stay here." |
