Would I stay at this location
again:

Absolutely!
We liked this hotel a lot. Itīs in the palace grounds, and the Maharaja is living next door. The hotel does at times feel a bit dated, but it adds to the genuine ambience, and the service and attention to detail is second to none. We liked the restaurant a lot, it is the best value food we have had in India. The Shiv Niwas Palace Hotel and itīs staff are responsible for our very memorable stay in Udaipur.

"wonderful setting and amenities, friendly charming staff and good food. we had a very happy 12 days there and were sorry to leave."

"It is special. Unique. To be savoured. It is like travelling back in time and having your own personal staff. Who are lively and keen to please you.It is huge and secluded and romantic. We ate on the terrace with the cook in attendance in the corner. And they gave us a complimentary camel safari the next morning. To be recommended. The village is non touristy. The inhabitants were interested in us but not trying to take advantage by selling. All was magical but if you are fussy about frills and flounces then you will feel adrift. If on the other hand, you appreciate character, authenticity and flavour, you will not be disappointed. We thought we would never get there and were anxious about industrail area we passed through but all was more than worth it!! It was much easier on way out following day. Wholehearted recommendation."

"Room and breakfasst were excellent,we think we were upgraded: we got a room with a niece terrasse. But we were very disapointed by the dinner we had at the palace restaurant(food quality very poor)"

"INCREDIBLE LOCATION WHICH OBVIOUSLY AFFECTS THE PRICE OF DINING, ETC. BUT IS IT NOT ALL ABOUT LOCATION ULTIMATELY. WOULD LOVE TO SPEND MY HONEYMOON HERE. COST OF TAKING A CAMERA TO THE CITY PALACE IS RIDICULOUS. BREAKFAST WAS SPECTACULAR. DEFINTELY ONE OF MY FAVORITE PLACES TO VISIT AGAIN."
