palace ganges takes advantage of having an internet website found outside of india, so foreign travelers can book a room here in advance of a stay in varanasi. but the room is overpriced by triple the amount of comprable rooms in the area, and charges way too much to food. there is a city dump very close to the hotel, and there is a big insect problem on the eating restaurant on the roof. the hotel charges too much for message and drinking water. all rooms are the same price, but most of the rooms don't even have a window let a lone a view. i had made my reservation 5 months in advance, and had written asking for a room with a view, being that is was spending my birthday there, and bringing my mother's ashes to put in the ganges. they still gave me a back room with no window, and challenged me when i complained. no i would not book at this place again, there main goal is profit. there are much better accomodations at a better rate right near by.

| "The Palace on Ganges has a wonderful view on the Ganges and in direct vicinity to the Assighat. The room I had was very spaceous with a balcony facing the Ganges. All staff was very service minded and food in the restaurant very well prepared and served.
Value for price stay !

| "Hotel is clean and has good rooms.Directly on the ganges but on the westernmost of all steps to the river. Not easy to go to. But compared to the rest still a quite good one. Not very cheap." |

That said, this was a very disappointing experience, as hotel is very over-priced for the level of accomodation. Despite its name, only 4 rooms face the Ganges. Hotel staff tries to steer ALL guests to the worst rooms first; insist on a room upstairs and, if it doesn't have a water view, in the back where it's quieter." |
