| "We have really enjoyed our stay there which was 16 days. The people are very friendly. The hotel and the location is perfect: clean and green. Unfortunately it is very isolated so that you need always a driver to see Bali (this is charged extra). The beach as well the sea are not inviting to swim as it is black sand and very stony. The spa is wonderful. We would go there again if we would like to relax and to enjoy the nature.
We would recommand it for people who are interested in calm and relaxed holidays.

| "It was our first visit to the Alila Manggis and we were delighted with the experience. A wonderful hotel for romantics and those seeking peace and relaxation.
The only downside is the lack of an attractive, in fact any, beach. It has a wonderful pool which makes up for this, and the sound of the waves on the shore was wonderful as we relaxed on our balcony bed.
Great restaurant and you should definately experience a romantic private dinner in the shore side 'gazebo'. The hotel is a short taxi ride from Candi dasa so one should experience the variety of restaurants in town. Many were empty when we visited in September, but offered great food and at much cheaper rates than the hotel.
The staff were friendly and helpful. I look forward to visiting this hotel one day again in the future." |

| "Just went to this hotel in august 2007 and here some of my remarks. This hotel is very isolated when you like to visit Bali, best is to stay just a few days to visit the east coast. Trafic in Bali is very slow (average 35km/h)Location is very nice but what a pitty no beach and the view with the many ferry and containerboats on front is not so nice. We went snorkling and that was realy amazing, just the many plastic garbage on the water wasn't nice.
About the hotelservice, very kind people but for the restaurant not so professional. On the breakfast you have to wait much to long (more than 1/2 hour) to receive just some toast and coffee, also many mistake in the orders. Why just do a buffet than everybody is happy, and not this complecated way. Dining was not on level of the hotel and to expensive what you got for. On the village you can eat much better a 1/2 of the price.
Overall a litte mistake from me to go there.
Hope the catering will upgrade in the future.

| "Excellent all round. The only reason that I would not stay there again is that I have too many other places to visit!" |

| "Awesome hotel in a quiet region of real Bali. Seafood Barbecue was superb. Great Australian Chef in the kitchen! Thanks a lot to the whole staff for making our stay unforgettable. Everybody goes out of their way to make you feel at home!" |

| "We only stayed here 2 nights. It's the combination of hospitality, development and sleek but romantic design-interior that makes this place worth staying.
Location is nice, food is good, staff is friendly, nice swimmingpool. There's no beach however.
Only minor is their adventure-breakfast package. Whatever you do, don't go for this one.
Alila claims it's located on a secluded beach with no others. Guess again. You'll be taken to a beach with lots of shops and some restaurants. Right after the restaurant net ends and the beach begins, your 'romantic' breakfast will be prepared. To make a long story short, you'll be having your freshly squeezed orange juice and croissants with others looking at you all the time, including quite some very sad and hungry looking dogs.
Alila is among the best hotels I've stayed, ever. Just don't go for the adventure-breakfast.
Enjoy!
Regards,
Rogier" |

| "Alila Manggis was a great find in a less developed and more traditional part of Bali(East).A contemporary design akin to living in the pages of a magazine. Service was excellent/ very friendly and the food in Seasalt restaurant could not be faulted. Cost of wine was on the high side so you'll need your Duty Free.Tides were high/ crashing on sea defences during our stay in May and the water in the bay not too clean owing to run-off from the local streams so beach swimming from the hotel was out but the hotel pool and plentiful supply of loungers with fresh towels more than made up for this.
The local town of Candidasa is pretty quiet so this is definitely a relaxing location. We stayed seven nights and combined our holiday with the last few nights at Alila Ubud which is a more interesting location but more impersonal than Manggis. " |

| "Well designed hotel with excellent service and food. A good location for those wanting to relax and recharge their batteries. For those wanting to explore East Bali there are a number of choices that can be arranged through the hotel. Only concern would be that the beach/sea front isn't the best. Wine is a bit pricey too.
Other than these last two points it is a hotel that I would have no hesitation recommending. " |

| "Very beautiful hotel, modern style, carefully maintained, wonderful garden. Location off the tourist places near candidasa. restaurant with superb cuisine.
beach rather small with big waves, not inviting for swimming.
only discredit: toilet smelled bad, obvious and numerous old urine stains underneath the toiletseat.
nevertheless : great choice to spend one or two nights at alila manggis instead of kuta." |
