| "How can you fault a Conrad Hotel? well you can fault this one. It's a fine hotel in many ways and I was pleased with the price per night through asiarooms. however, once there, be prepared for international prices in this third world country. and don't expect to walk outside and eat at the competition. bali lacks the entrepreneurs you would get in the likes of phuket and why no one has set up a decent restaurant opposite the hotel is anyone's guess. Want to check your email to see if your auntie annie has email you? well, go to the business centre and be charged business prices. alternatively, walk outside and you have a few kilometers to walk to a dirty little internet cafe. (and watch out for the holes in the pavement)
The breakfast was not very good. The Sofitels in thailand are much better. I never ate dinner there, preferring to get a taxi into town, about 20 mins away. The taxi drivers have obviously been told not to verbally hassle you offering tours the following day, but only some follow orders. It can be a long 20 mins trapped in a taxi.
I had to go against the signs to find my room. The signs for reception etc are terrible. For some reason we had to wait about 30 minutes for our taxi back to the airport whilst about 5 service staff waited around at the front door. too many people! each thought the other had booked the taxi. Why no shuttle service anyway?
The beach the hotel sits on is a joke. Don't try to swim there. the sand is a very poor relation to the white powdery stuff that you perhaps go to Bali for. And don't expect much when your poolside smoothie drink appears ...considering you've just spent in excess of a Bali day's wage on that one drink. Well, they don't exactly have to try..there's sod all in the way of competition around...." |

| "Best ever hotel experience. Its worth paying the higher price for the luxury and service. If you choose the pool access rooms, remember to request for seaview so that you can watch sun rise from the room!" |

| "We love this hotel, though the room rate is way over our budget it was worth it. This hotel was recommended by our friend and we now recommend Conrad to those who wish to pamper themselves, have a bit of luxury. Our overnight stay was too short to fully enjoy the room, the pools, the relaxing ambience the hotel provides. The sound system in the bathroom was mpressive, you can watch tv while taking a nice bath. The breakfast was sumptuous and the staff were friendly and courteous. Overall it was truly a lovely experience and really made our visit to Bali a memorable experience." |

| "Conrad Bali is one of the best resort hotels I ever stayed. The openness and the space at the lobby gives a warm welcome to the guests the moment you set foot in the property. The view from the lobby lounge was spectacular with the huge swimming pool below and the beach, sea and blue sky that stretches beyond it. The service was excellent and checking in was done in the comfort of the lobby lounge where a welcome drink and cold towels were served. The hotel room was comfortable, clean with one of the most comfy bed! However, the view from the Ocean View Deluxe Room was a disappointment as it was blocked by tree branches. So if you plan to pay premium for the Ocean View, perhaps you can save that money. The spa in the hotel was excellent, definitely worth every single cent though it's a little pricey compared to the many spa outside the hotel along Bali streets. Ambience at the grill restaurant by the poolside was great, very romantic. Prices of restaurants within the hotel were moderately high but reasonable for the quality of food we got. Overall, I would highly recommend the die-hard romantics to try this hotel if you want to spend some quality time together, even without stepping out of the hotel at all!" |

| "This is a wonderful newly built hotel with first class facilities, wonderful service at a very competitive price. The restaurants, the spa, the pools, the beach and the staff were wonderful. However we do have one major criticism. My wife and I used the walkway anong the beach each morning. We were amazed to see the dirt and squalor of some of the surrounding area. This is a poor location for a five star hotel. The area further down the beach where the majority of the big hotel names were located was much superior. For this reason we would probably change hotel if we were to revisit this region. A smaller but important point was the uniform worn by the staff . We thought it was too casual in style especially in the restaurant and reception area. In contrast the uniform worn by the staff in the Spice restaurant was elegant." |

| "Let me preface this review by stating that I spend a minimum of 45 to 100 nights in hotels annually AND that I live, work, and "play" in Hawaii where tourism and hospitality are "king." Having said that, and coming from the islands where we boast some of the world's most famous and noted resorts, my experience with the Conrad Bali is that it is my personal favorite Resort Hotel EVER! YES, EVER!!!
The staff here is outstanding! It is a combination of the genuine warmth and gentleness of the Balinese people, combined with their professional training in the service sector that produces such gracious hospitality that all hotels/resorts should attempt to emulate! I am convinced that the training here must be bar none, THE BEST in terms of guest relations and customer satisfaction. They have really raised the bar at this property where the housekeepers, telephone operators, wait staff and even pool cleaners and landscapers know your name and always greet you with an infectious smile! No request is ever "too much," and when requests are met, they respond with "anything else?" I rarely make any extraordinary requests, but when I do, they are quite unusual and perhaps challenging.
During my stay at the Conrad, I opted for a delux lagoon room and the view from my balcony was so scrumptous that I requested that my furnishings be rearranged so that I could enjoy most of my time out in the balcony (two steps from a cool plunge into the pool!) This required several staff, including an engineer to rewire the lamps so that it could be brought outside. Room service also had to set up tables out there so that I could enjoy my in-room dining al fresco style...I can go on and on but you get the pix). All this was accomplished by one phone call! And this task was done with expedience! But what was impressive is that the staff just exuded an attitude that my request was no problem at all! Brilliant!
Needless to say, my bathrobe became my sleepwear, daywear and nightwear as I didn't want to leave my abode! If it wasn't for the pesky mosquitos (which is an inherent issue of being in tropical weather surrounded by so much foliage - not the fault of the Conrad), I would have slept out there too!
Getting back to the staff- they just anticipated your every need! Once they knew what my preferences at breakfast were, they didn't need to ask again on my following visits! When I dined alone, they brought me reading material without my asking! They always offered to do more than was asked or requested (ie, they always brought tea or bottled water when I neglected to order drinks with my in-room meals/snacks)
Room service was timely and items were hot and to insure it, they rolled out heating ovens into my patio so that my meals were kept at an adequate temperature!
I got maid service at least 2 to 3 times a day, as long as my "privacy" sign wasn't displayed and toiletries were generously replenished!
The room itself presented some cool architectual features (recessed reading alcove) and design elements (raised ceramic sinks in the bathroom) and the clean lines were dressed with a hint of Balinese flair (local artwork framed by woven grass/rafia wall coverings). The design was sleek, modern and not over the top! Furnishings were of dark woods! There was also a seperate walk-in closet. I especially indulged in their rain shower in the marbled bathrooms!
If you can splurge on getting a lagoon room, DO IT! I took dips at night under the velvety sky - it was heaven! This is the newest property in the Nusa Dua area and it shows!
Everything about this property - the rooms, the landscaping and most of all, the SERVICE are absolutely stellar! I couldn't give ANY hotel a higher rating or better accolades than I could at the Conrad Bali. Please refer to my other reviews for more info about Nusa Dua hotels by checking out my review for the Sheraton Nusa Dua and the Westin Nusa Dua. Hope you enjoy your stay!" |
