My girl friend and myself did spend a week in April 07.We had a wonderful time. The service was great, the location amazing, and the food really first class. It is 50kms from town ,so forget the disco and the shopping, which did suited us perfectly,The black sand beach is deserted most of the time.We had some wonderful walks, went for a splendid montains bike ride across rices paddies and local villages. This is a great hotel for romance.Do not come alone .The only downside is than the sea can be very strong, but they have a great swimming pool. Last but not the least they have a really good masseuse.

| "We found this hotel on Asia rooms and booked 4 nights accordingly. The hotel was very isolated and took a long time to get there from Legian but was magnificent when we got settled. We were moved/upgraded to the Beach Room which was right on the water and extremely nice and did have a TV.DVD which the first room didnt have. The pool area was very nice and staff attentative. The restuarant was nice though as you were a captive audience would have liked to see the specials change more frequently. We should have taken insect repellant as restuarant was mostly open and there were many bugs. Overall hotel was good though quiet with us being the only guests at one stage and we woukld recommend for those that want to get away from the rat race." |

| "even if it's a little bit far from everything and more over from the airport, it absolutely necessary to stay t Gaja Mina for a night or two to have rest in this wonderful garden with this fabulious view on the see.
The only think that could be improuve is the location of the restaurant but it's maybe already in progress because during my stay, a new house were built just in front of the sea..." |

| "The rooms are all very average, all except room nine...double bed wooden chalet on stilts on the cliff edge with a promontory promenade from which to watch the sunset over Javanese volcanoes. When the tide is out you have 2 private beaches, when the tide is in the sea eagles swoop down to catch the bats evicted from the caves 50 metres below your feet. Food is fantastic and the pool is always clean and peaceful. Perfect for families - and for romantics.
The downside is that the place is quite isolated and the Balian estuary serves the hard core surfers only. (Amazing to watch the kiteboarding action heroes!) It is two hours from the airport half an hour from the nearest town - own transport is recommended." |
