Sri Phala hotel is a charming boutique hotel at human size. Staff is really wellcoming and hotel is well maintained. The only shortback is location vs the beach : the nice beach of Sanur is quite distant from the hotel (20min by walk). Close to the hotel the beach is dirty, not very pleasant.
For families with kids, I reckon the hotel is a bit too quite - no activities and the pool is not that big.

| "We booked the Superior room but upgraded to the deluxe room immediately after realising that the room is in the main block with no views to the pool and beautiful landscape. You don't even get to walk or see the landscape as the stairs to the Superior room is just immediately off the reception. The bathroon was also not very exceptable to me as it was old, small and very umpleasant looking. The deluxe rooms on the other hand was nice as it is in the middle of the beautiful landscape and pool and has nice Balinese architecture. It comes with a patio or balcony for the upper level rooms. It was just a US 10 difference to upgrade. The room is extremaly big and the toilet was much better. The breakfast was good with a choice of continental or local, both c/w fruits or fruit juice and tea/coffee. The local option was a choice of mee goreng and nasi goreng which was quite yummy. Pool is really small but very pleasant. One downside though, during the night the landscape and balconies/patios are lit with ugly flurescent white light that totally destroys the mood which otherwise would have been quite magical if there were lit in warm yellow tone lighting.Hope the management reads this and do something about it!
Location-wise, although it is very convenient as it is just on the main road of the Ngurah Rai Bypass with KFC across the road and walking distance to some restaurants and to the beach (beach not good here), the main shopping and restaurant enclave is about a 5 min drive away. I thouught that was one downside as there isn't much around the hotel and no buzz or activities. But taxis are of abundance as it is just on the main road for those who don't mind it.

| "The resort is located in north sanur, 8-10 min walk from the beach but 30 min away from the art market and more than 40 min away from prime beachfront dining
Resort is densely landscaped with plants, some problems with mosquitoes in the room at night even with the room 'sealed'
Room is comfortably spacious, slight problem with non-working lamps which the staff fixed
Bathtub stopper was not working well but we lived with that
Only one english television channel in HBO
Staff service can be inconsistent, food was average
Note: hotel charges 3% surcharge for using credit cards

| "Sri Phala was ideallic, looking out onto a rice field. We stayed in an upstairs / downstairs. Only down side was the bathroom was down the stairs. The room is quite small but adequate.
They do have a tv but its not worth switching it on. There was very little reception. They also have a pool but unit is not big enough to swim in it. More a dipping pool.
It also has a spa which was excellent value. We got 4 treatments for 50 dollars.
This is a place that a book reader or couple would love. It is peaceful and beautiful with the stars to look at night. A walk into town is not far.
Ubud itself is definately worth visiting. We stayed there for only 2 nights and would have preferred 3." |

| "Fantastic boutique resort. Quiet, relaxing and beautiful. Rooms are large and bathroom clean and good size. Great place to relax and read a book. Location is only a problem because on the way to the beach and restaurants (5 min walk) you get inundated with people trying to sell." |
