When I think of Bali I think of kind, gentle people who make you smile. Many of the people I think about were at Tegal Sari. We stayed in the wooden room, which has a beautiful location right over the rice paddies, and we are going back again in 2009. That's the best recommendation I can give.
You can easily walk into Ubud proper from this location, and there are also closer restaurants and shops down the street the other way. Nothing in Ubud is more than 10 minutes from Tegal Sari, even though it is not in the center of town.
The food was wonderful, the pool was beautiful, it was spotlessly clean, and the service was smiling, fast and incredible. All in all, a great experience.
