| "A few kms North of Ubud but the SHUTTLE SERVICE was EXCELLENT and free. You just turn up at reception and ask to be taken anywhere in Ubud! When you want to come back, just ring up and, they will pick you up from anywhere! They even drove us further away from Ubud so we missed the difficult part of the ridge walk, then picked it up where we just strolled down to the town.
Built in the 1980s its a little tired but is full of Balinese character and gardens. Behind its high front walls you cannot hear the constant traffic.
The hotel spills down the river gorge which means there are ALOT of steps but the view is stunning. It overlooks virginal jungle and you cannot see any other buildings, apart from a villa a km away.
The hotel is currently being renovated (only 10 rooms open). According to the other guests the rooms were OK but the bathrooms were wanting. I THINK these were the rooms that HAD been renovated. Our room was built less than a year ago and was the jackpot.
Walk down 123 steps (but SO worth it) to the lowest level (so no one passing by) and there is a room all by itself. This room EASILY fits its Queen and king single beds and has 8M of glass doors opening onto a balcony of the same width. From this level you can here the river below (heaven). Negatives: The windows face east(the rising sun) and the curtains are not blockouts, there was no desk/table top and room deco was wanting. The bathroom is light and airy, has very modern fittings, an individual shower and bath. The bath is surrounded by windows so you can soak and gaze at the view! There are also venetians if you are concerned about privacy. Negatives: No towel rail or portable drying rack and drainage under the shower was too slow.
The pool was 20 steps away and so inviting. Its been modernised and has the best view of the whole complex. On this level also is only one room that has a terrace with the same amazing view. The room seems to be LARGE, I guess it was the original best room.
Negatives: Mosquitoes at night. The restaurant had no food our first night there, but the shuttle was offered and accepted! Nasi Goreng at breakfast had no egg even though 2 eggs were offered with the american breakfast. Another morning they ran out of bread so an EXTRA slice of toast was not possible. On our last night we couldn't have a Banana Split as there was no ice cream and they didn't have any Nescafe even though it was on the menu. I guess at least, this means that the food they do have is fresh. Also, as only 10 rooms were operational, things should improve once all 26 are open again.
I loved our stay there but I dont know if I would feel the same way in another room. The location is one of the best in Ubud yet the price is still quite reasonable. EVERYONE staying there thought it was very good value. Stay there before the renovations turn it 5 star, word gets out and the price goes up. " |

| "How to say.. the Staff are very nice but the place is very different from the brochure, ex : near swimming pool should be a spa lounge service, there is not in real. At night there's no light at all near the house and pool so we cannot swim, the decorate are very "cheap" and not in style with bali ( this hotel is not cheap price ! ), the toilet in our room smell not good :(, on the right side of the place there's some noice due of renovation and plants & vegetals there are not nice... In globally it's not good ! I dont recommand this ressort :(" |

| "We stayed at this hotel during low season (Mid Jan) so it was very quiet, we were upgraded (free of charge) to a beautiful room (recently renovated) over looking the forrest and river. The staff are very friendly and helpfull, but respected our privacy. The hotel is about 5-10min drive from central Ubud, but offers free transport to and from with no fuss. The location is 10/10, perfect for couple wanting a quiet getaway. There are alot of steep steps to get to your room, but the location and view are worth it. " |

| "A beautifully situated hotel, with perfect valley views. the few staff we met were all friendly and helpful.
However, the facilities have not been maintained or brought up to date. The standards of hotels in Ubud has increased dramatically. Expectations therefore as well. And to be frank, the condition of this hotel no longer matches what is expected.
The price we had to pay US $ 90 (I think) for one night is too expensive: it is way over the average what the market rates are in Ubud. " |

| "Ulun Ubud was a resort that was probably very nice to stay in the past, but very bad maintained.
The door to the bathroom was 170cm, very low. The mosquito-net had a lot of holes in it, the matras of the bed was very poor.
Up on arrival we were given the wrong room (smaller than we ordered), the manager was very hard to convince to give us the right room. If the room just fits the bed it is allready called a "suite".
Breakfast was the poorest of our stay in Bali.
Swimming pool was ok, the hot-tub was half filled with water and dirty.
The location and views from the resort were great! The rest poor.
Conclusion, old and dirty resort. " |

| "The property is in need of regular maintenance - dirty bedcovers and tablecloths at the restaurant etc. The bathroom is really poorly done - old tiles, no shampoo/conditioner, no shower curtain etc. Spartan rooms - no TV, just a bed and a table and chair, cubpboard.
The staff tries hard but low occupancy and ageing property does not help. The view from the rooms is quite good - a hill with a lot trees and greenery. The hotel is a little far from the center of town but the hotels offers free transport to and from the city center which helps.

| "Room with balcony with very nice view! Breakfast on balcony was a nice option. Nice location. For older people the many steps going to room or swimming pool can be a problem, this should be mentioned on the internet site. Very nice stay, good service with shuttle to center of Ubud.

| "The setting of Ulun Ubud is lovely as each balcony overlooks the river canyon. The staff was welcoming and helpful. Although a bit far from the town center, the hotel provides a free shuttle service so we never felt restricted by its location. Not good for people who can't climb stairs as it is on a hillside. We found it good for exercise!" |

| "Lovely hotel. Beautifully situated. If disabled or having problems walking maybe not the best choice because of all the levels and stairs. Friendly and helpfull staff. Really enjoyed our stay at Ulun Ubud. " |
