On Gili Island transportation is by walking or horse car. The distance from the harbor to the hotel is about 30 minutes walking distance.
The hotel certainly has a restaurant, but if you fancy different cuisince you have to walk to the center of town, again about 30 minutes away.
The beach right in from of the hotel is nice, but if you want to swim you have to walk through shallow water with a lot of rocks and corals that are not really pleasant to walk on. The beaches towards the center of town are nicer.
On the other hand the beach is almost empty of people. So if you like to have the beach to yourself this might be a good place.
Tap water is only salt water. But a bowl with sweet water is provided that can be used with a scoop.
In my opinion the value for money of the hotel is not very good. For this rate I would expect a higher standard.

| "We came here for our honeymoon and really enjoyed our stay here. There was such a peaceful atmosphere -its on the quiet side of the island, and the white beaches were beautiful! Swimming during the morning was easier because later the tide goes out which means walking over the coral reefs to get to the water.
The staff were friendly but quite laid back which is in keeping with the general feel of the island!
We had such a relaxing time here. There was very little modern technology in the joglos which meant listening to the sound of waves.
Although i would not recomend this place to someone expecting luxuary service, it is a wonderful place for nature-lovers, couples or those looking to escape from it all. Our stay here was bliss. " |

| "If you want peace and quiet, Desa Dunia Beda is perfect. Staff are friendly, helpful and attentive, the food good. The rooms are a world away from "international bland"; expect cooling natural ventilation, the sound of the sea, saltwater (with fresh water provided for rinsing), natural fabrics, solid furniture, ample space, and a generous verandah from which to watch the sun set. The village is about 10/15 mins away by horse cart, or hire a bike and be independent. " |

| "This property is on Gili Trawangen Island off the coast of Lombok so is not the easiest place to get to. The island itself is not very well developed and was extremely quiet when we were there in January due to both the wet season and general lack of tourists visiting Indonesia at this time. This resort is probably the most upmarket property on the island and certainly looks like it was developed to attract the less budget conscious traveller to the Island. The hotel has only 6 guest rooms which are individual large bungalow type accommodations right across the road from the beach on the northern end of the Island.
I had my 11 & 12 year old son and daughter with me & we were the only guests in the hotel the whole time we were there so the place was very quiet and the service was very good in the restaurant being we were the only people there. The rooms were fairly exceptional and nicely appointed in Balinese style furniture and bed & certainly would suit couples wanting a romantic holiday away from everything. They were pretty clean and the shower and toilet were outside in an enclosed courtyard at the rear. No freshwater on the island so salt water showers and swimming pool!We had breakfast each morning at the hotel and occasionally a lunch or dinner and the food quality was reasonable but not great compared to other upmarket resorts in other parts of Asia. Again, we were the only guests so it must have been difficult to offer a full menu for lunches and dinners. The beach across the road is not good for swimming due to the sharp coral & rips so you need to go back into the main commercial part of the island, which is about 10 mins by horse and cart "taxi" where there were areas you could swim off the beach. Apart from the horses, the only other transport on the island is to hire a bicycle. Overall the staff at the hotel were very obliging and courteous and while this hotel may be trying to market itself to a more upmarket traveller, the location itself will always be a problem and the overall lack of proper development on the island means you should not expect a luxury holiday by any means. I would return to this hotel if given the choice, but next time outside the wet season which would mean a few more people and fewer jellyfish in the water! " |
