I will start with the negative. Lombok is pretty boring unless you like (1) diving, (2) sitting on your butt, or (3) trekking up volcanos. Beautiful but boring. Negatives about hotel: (1) pick-up not available for those booked by agents - not fond of double-standard, (2) very dark bathroom (if you get a 2nd floor room, which is best for privacy), (3) small place - with negative being a lot of families stay there and you get a large one and they hang around it feels like they own everything (e.g., the pool, the resturant) and it isnot pleasant - - this is also a downside for romance-seeking couples, (4) this is not the villas lining the beach type of place - - the properties in this area tend to be narrow stretching from beach to road (long and narrow beach-side) - - it seemed like maybe just 1 villa had a really good ocean view (number 8, for you'all - number 10 is where we stayed and it was OK but ocean view severly marred by trees - of course they should not cut, but it is hardly a ocean view, (5) there is no TV for those who like to watch to go to sleep, and (6) twice there was no hot water and it was a dang cold experience. On the PLUS-side, (1) the staff were nice, friendly, and efficient, (2) the rooms were nice and my wife who is picky thought it was tasteful, (3) nice balcony where you can laze (negative though is that only 3 rooms have privacy - as you go back from beach the balconies tend to face each other), and (4) breakfast delievered to balcony - good for long grazing. If Lombok was more interesting, we would probably like to stay at a place like this.
