The room was large but sparsely furnished and in need of a touch-up. The open shower smells of mildew. The plastic covering sheltering the open shower partially was covered with debri which looked like it has not been cleared for months.
The buffet breakfast consisted of about 6 standard dishes everyday.
The resort was deserted but we were refused a late check out even though our flight was at 5 pm. The reason the staff gave was that only 6 of the rooms are to be used during the low season.
The beach is full of motor boats which spoils the view. At SGD 100 per night for the beach view bungalow, I think a better deal can be found elsewhere.

| "The hotel was being renovated while we were staying there, the rooms were fine it just looked like more restaurant or bars were being added to the complex which were needed.
There were a lot of business and travel groups staying at the hotel, who were given preference to restaurant areas etc.
The pool is great, but there is no private beach area for this hotel so if you do want to be on the beach you will have to deal with the sellers.

| "the villa at the santosa villa and resort is beautiful and very clean. we have our own private pool. at 1st, we booked a superior room and decide to upgrade after we see the villa.thank to all the service staff, espacialy sunset bar staff (fahri), who always keep me company and give us good service. the down side is the breakfast, should have more choises. will stay there again, for the next visit " |

| "The Intan is in a great location, has a wonderful pool/beachside area, and the staff are friendly and helpful. We did enjoy it.
But the hotel is showing its age. It needs to be extensively renovated, to keep its position in the market (eg lights fell off walls, the air conditioners kept on breaking down, the power went off repeatedly, the TV hardly worked, the drainage was unsatisfactory, paint is flaking off the walls). In fact there are extensive renovations underway (some cottages are being refurbished, and new ones are being built) which was not really a problem, but which detracted from the holiday atmosphere a bit.
The other issue was cost. Given how rundown the place was, we thought the cost was too high, relative to other hotels in the area that we visited." |

| "Previous comments about this hotel were obviously out of date and totally misleading. This is a superb hotel, with wonderful facilities, food and great staff. I don't know anywhere else you could find such a wonderful place for $US35. I tried three different rooms over my stay ($35 - $45) to check the place
out well and all were excellent. The huge well-kept gardens, tennis courts, layout, superb pool and tropical setting are perfect, also close to a huge range of excellent and good value restaurants. Try the hotel spa and range of massages around $US15! I valued the comfort and tranquility also. AND they are even starting to renovate and upgrade rooms! Everyone I spoke to staying at the hotel was very pleased and happy. I was so impressed at the value that I aim to take colleagues and friends there next time. Tours and car rental were also good value.
And re. previous comments about the hawkers on the beach and town streets, they are gentle, non-threatening and trying to earn a respectable living on a poor island. Why don't you buy something for a dollar or two and help them to live! Oh, and I did see one mosquito in the bathroom but she/he didn't like the insect spray a tropical tourist might normally have. I also saw the other hotels and Intan village (also called Intan Laguna) be my first choice when I return." |

| "location in center of Sengiggi was good but facilities everywhere showed huge impact of "wear and tear", some investments in this hotel have to be done; the breakfast buffet was alright but the price for this night was not adequate. " |
