Absolutely!

I regularly stay at the Makassar Golden Hotel. The hotel is right on Pantai Losari (boardwalk along the waterfront). The hotel has excellent water views and is convenient to shops and restuarants. The Terrace Restuarant is perched over the water. The staff are genuinely friendly and responsive to your needs. I prefer to stay here rather than the newer hotels in town largely because of the location and the warmth and friendliness of the staff. You can't beat the view of the sunset at the back of the hotel. The rooms are large and have balconies, some of which have water views. There are cottages that fringe the waterfront and a clean and well maintained pool. If ever there's a problem with a room, it gets sorted out immediately. Check in and check out is always smooth. The reception, bell, cleaning and restuarant staff are all incredibly helpful and you are always greeted with a smile. It's always a pleasure to return to this hotel. The hotel gets my thumbs up! The local people in Makassar are all smiles.

"The Hotel is probably one of the better ones in Makassar and the location is very nice. We only as it seemed were a bit unlucky to have to stay in a room with no window. It felt a bit like in prison. Although we checked out a day earlier and we only wanted a room with window for our last night instead of a return of the money, the management was not able to meet our wish. Poor we, poor management. Bye, bye Makassar Golden."
