I have spent a full week in Santika Malang and I am absolutely satisfied. Good location, not central but still well connected with downtown by minubus or taxi; staff is absolutely professional, helpful and friendly; minimal-elegant appearance, high quality restaurant, room, bathroom, furnitures, pool is good size and perfectly clean (even though gets shadowed in the afternoon). Only negative aspect, some rooms facing westbound receive very loud sound even in middle of night due to the proximity of a Mosque.
Overall excellent value for money. I would recommend this hotel to all travellers to Malang and will definitely stay again next time.
