Would I stay at this location
again:

Most likely
It was a good surprise because we made the reservation by internet. We arrived by train and the location of the hotel is perfect (in a walking distance from the station). Also not far from the shops and canal city. Thank you.

4/5  Posted by MR. COLLINS, Peter, United States in August 2008
"The Okura is definitely one of the top three chain hotels in Fukuoka, along with the Nikko and the Hyatt. It's a bit like stepping back in time, but not very far - to about 20 years ago. The lobby is beautiful, the restaurants ranging from average to jaw-droppingly expensive, and they do a fairly brisk wedding business. The service is the main thing - you can't even blink without three or four people calling "thank you." It's one of those places which is intentionally overstaffed so you're constantly feeling attended, whether in the breakfast buffet or just walking across a lobby. After three days, it got a little old. Still, I really appreciated the staff's English skills, especially the concierge who did a great job of suggesting and booking restaurant reservations. The room is nothing special for the price - just a nicer-than-average business hotel. The location is great, though, in terms of walking to theaters, high-end shopping, and a couple conference center venues. One downside is that they're really not set up for business - they have one little meeting room which you have to pay extra to use, and one closet-feeling room with a computer in it. So things like photocopying, printing out - they were enough of an ordeal that we gave up and did everything at the conference venue."

"We loved the area & the view was fabulous."

"Okura is an excellent hotel with a highly valued Japanese hositality. Its location, facilities and room amenities are very good without one feeling un-comfortable with it being too luxurious or too snotty. The service attitude of staff cannot be faulted from the doorman(or door-lady)to the receptionist, to the conceige to the room cleaners. It is THE best place to stay in Fukuoka!"

"Our stay at the Okura hotel, Fukuoka was a most enjoyable experience. The hotel staff were extremely polite and always helpful. The inside of the hotel was just as shown in the website photographs - the beautiful reception area gives a very good first impression and a flavour of what else the hotel has on offer. We ate in two of the hotels restaurants plus breakfast in the coffee shop. The food and service was very good in all cases. The location made it very easy to get to the centre of the Tenjin district and the nearest subway station was only a few minutes walk On the whole we would find it difficult to find fault with this hotel except where the use of the gym and swimming pool are concerned. We did feel that the cost of using these facilities was a little high. "

"We are seniors and the parents of Tommy Hessler and live in Sweden. Our son had booked Okura hotel for our stay in Fukuoka, after travelling around in Japan for hardly two weeks. When we arrived at Okura hotel we felt very welcome and where very well treated. Every person working at the hotel gave us the best service and made everything to make us feel comfortable. We forgot a bag in the taxi, that took us to the hotel, every person around in the Lobby tried to help and after 15 minutes the bag was in our hands!Marvellous!!!! If we ever come back to Fukuoka we should stay at Okura Hotel! We will recomend this hotel to our friends! Kindest regards from Sweden, Solgärd and Rune Hessler "
