We are a couple, and wanted to see Hiroshima for a weekend. Tried to pick a hotel which would be nice, certainly spent more money than the minimum (The room was $150/night) and it looked great from their webpage.
We got there, and the room was tiny, smelled awfully like smoke, the outside windows could not be opened, and the bathroom had huge windows into the bedroom, very odd.
Overall, the location was great, things were very clean and new, but the room was not particularly comfortable. Probably appropriate for a business traveler, though its price is a little too high for that. Wouldn't stay there again.

| "THE ROOM WAS MORE OF A CAPSULE SIZE THAN A DOUBLE. MY WIFE BROKE HER TOE SQUEEZING PAST THE DOOR. STAFF SPOKE NO ENGLISH AND WERE INDIFFERENT TO OUR COMPLAINTS. THE HOTEL SEEMED MORE INTERESTED IN WEDDINGS & CONFERENCES THAN TOURISTS.
GIVE IT A MISS." |

| " The Oriental Hotel is a very satisfactory choice for lodgings in Hiroshima. The hotel is located within walking distance to the castle, memorials, and museums. There are two main entances, and just across an adjacent secondary street is a convenience store and taxi stand. The hotel is just a few minutes from the main nightlife district and shopping venues. I occupied a single room. It was of average Japanese dimension, which is pretty small, but I've become accustomed to Japanese rooms so I was not inconvenienced. The room was clean, fairly well appointeed, and services were great. The staff was not comfortable with English, but we made it through. I did not sample the hotel's restaraunts, or other facilities. The lobby lounge offers free internet if you did not bring a laptop for the free internet available in-room. Overall this is a great place to stay, and will leave you with extra yen for a few pints at Molly Mallone's. Cheers." |

| "The Hotel was beautiful and the service was excellent. It is not very conveniently located in regards to the train station, but that would be my only complaint." |
