| "The only good thing about this hotel is the location, it was in a really good spot. The beds pillows etc are so old I cant begin to explain how bad the pillows were. Our breakfasts were stone cold. I think they were made the day before and put in the fridge for the morning. It was a western breakfast of scrambled eggs and toast. We did not have any of our breakfasts. We did not request a smoking room but got one. The smell was so bad I could not sleep. We could not open the windows for the first night as the were locked." |

| "The location of the hotel is great, near the subway and shopping areas. However, the room was really small even by Japanese standards. I was there during winter and the heater was really hot even though we turned it to the lowest. In the end, my husband and I had to open the window for fresh air. We also spent about an hour looking for the entrance of the hotel! It was hidden in a narrow alley and no one we asked seemed to know where it was. Just remember, once you see the 7 eleven, turn right and the hotel entrance is there. Overall, the location is really great and since most of the time you would be out, this hotel is alright." |

| "We stayed at The Alpha on 06/29/07-07/04/07 as our last leg of a 3 week vacation. The location of this hotel combined with AsiaRooms price made this choice easy. You will do ALOT of walking in Kyoto so having a hotel 3 blocks for the Gion District and 1/2 block from the subway was great. The main shopping arcade is also at your door. Make sure to know your map with the hotel clearly marked as it is off the main road around the corner from 7/11 store. The Taxi driver didn't know it.
The Lobby is beautiful, although small and clearly this was more of a business hotel than a tourist accomadation. (But the smell of melons hits you as you enter the auto doors!)The rooms are TINY but clean! We had no view -only bricks of another building-. The Toilet room is small but clean and modern- no TOTO toilet here. Storage space is extremly limited to one 2" closet-no drawers at all. The front desk service was prompt and extremely courteous-even though not much english was spoken-we speak enough broken japanese to get by. Our breakfast was included in the price. Overall, we would stay here again because of the fantastic location, and the value. I would not recommend this for anyone who doesn't like confined spaces." |

| "location wise, great. 10 minute walk to Gion ,subway 200m around corner. Excellent location for local bakery and convenience store at front. Hard to find front entrance though. Room had stale smoke odor. Basically a mid range hotel, very convenient location." |

| "This hotel has one of the best locations, there are not many hotels so centrally located as the Alpha, nor at this price range. The service was great, staff that i dealt with seemed very fluent in english (just be patient, if you go in with a smile they seem to be less intimidated to speak english and let them finish what they are saying before you but in, if you feel the urge to). the main street is 20 metres away a mall is at the other end of the street. ponto cho and gion are short strolls away, i'm talking 5-10 minutes, everything is so close to this hotel. Japanese people are extremely polite, if you are rude, i noticed that just like in any other country you will be treated like a rude tourist, this was obvious when watching others being rude and all of a sudden many (not in the hotel, they were always polite and friendly) could only speak japanese." |

| "I had a single room. The room was small, but had everything you needed: tv, possibility to make some tea, small fridge. It was very clean. Good for few nights stay. Nice yukatan to wear after shower was a nice plus." |

| "This hotel was pretty funky. Our view was of a cemetary, the furniture was old and kinda tacky, but it had a little bit of charm that was a bit humorous. The location was a little ways down a narrow alley, so again that's a little weird. But we did find an interesting Indian restaurant a short walk from the hotel. We had a problem with most of our hotels in Japan being way too hot and this one we couldn't open the window or get any air curculation so that was bad! Hotel staff spoke enough english though, so it was decent for just one night passing through." |
