| "Was very disappointed with the APA Gion hotel. Rooms are very small, which is not such a problem, but they are also not very clean, they are old and deteriorating and don't seem to be maintained at all. The 'bathroom' is a joke. My 6ft 2in son could not stand upright in the shower. Our knees reached the opposite wall when sitting on the toilet. They are small prefabricated capsules added to the rooms and are old and shabby and felt unclean, although I'm sure the cleaners do their best. They put us in a smoking room when we had requested non-smoking, but had no problem finding us a non-smoking room when I asked for one after a sleepless, breathless night with smoke coming through our air conditioning. Obviously, non-smoking rooms had been available all along. The lobby is shabby and seriously in need of an update - new carpet and furniture wouldn't cost much, surely. The breakfast buffet was limited and not inviting - bacon & sausages sitting in water, strange tasting eggs and cold and rubbery pastries. The staff are helpful enough when they can understand, as English is very minimal. No additional services offered eg cashing traveller's cheques. The whole hotel smells of smoke, including the tiny old elevator. Sorry, not my idea of a decent hotel. The only good thing about it is it's location in the heart of Gion, the night life and Geisha (or Geiko) district and Starbucks downstairs. The prices should be a lot lower for this standard of hotel." |

| "This hotel could have not been in a better location, right opposite the Yasaka temple, & on the cusp of the infamous Gion district. The rooms were comfortable, however a little cramped considering it's "triple" status, especially with the luggage in the room, well actually i'm pretty sure that it was a double room with a trundler bed...still a good bed though. Bathroom was microscopic, i give it 1.5 square metres if it's lucky....
The breakfast buffet is phenomenal! It's served in the hotel's restaurant, so to the public it's like 1'500yen to eat there, the range of both japanese & western cuisine is fantastic.
Internet-computers are available in the lobby via coin system (100yen per 15min).
Very friendly staff with limited english.
Would definately stay there again!" |

| "Compared to the other hotels we stayed in Japan, booking via Asia Rooms, we found the room in this hotel terribly small. Admittedly this was a triple room, however the room looked nothing like the photos on the web sites. The two regular beds were smallish singles, and the temporary bed sat along side one of these with no room in between. There was very little suitcase room, and the bathroom was a tiny plastic capsule. The staff were friendly and helpful, breakfast was fine and the location was very good. However, not recommended where you have three people staying." |

| "only problems was there was not a non-smoking room when we stayed, However, they did their best by putting an air circulator in to try and get rid of any smoke smells (which wasn't too bad after all)" |

| "my stay at the hotel was good they bent over backwards to let me book in early as i had arrived too early the room was plenty large enough for me but then i was travelling alone.
reception was on the second floor of the hotel and meant an elevator ride from the street but again it suited me might not be very good at all for people with dissabilities or especially a wheelchair.
the room was clean with all the usual bits and pieces hairdrier tea and coffee stuff soap in the bathroom sheets were changed every day staff were very nice and helpful and all the sites well the main ones anyway were just a short walk away internet access was also available at 100 yen for 10 mins 50p ish but having the chance to check e mails and to send some PRICELESS i probably wouldnt stay there again myself but thats only because i now have friends to stay with in the area if i didnt i probably would stay there i think it would best suit the traveller on a budget backpackers and alike " |

| "This was our second stay at APA Gion and we certainly weren't disappointed with our decision to come back.
The location is absolutely perfect, right in the centre of the Gion district and an easy walk down the main shopping streets. The rooms are absolutely adequate and very good value for such a central location.
We would definitely stay here again if we were visiting Kyoto." |

| "Apart from the size of the room & bathromm being very small, the location in Kyoto was perfect! We were in the centre of the Gion district. Just a short walk to the major department stores, restaurants and shopping area. The bus stop is just 2 mins from the hotel. Taxi cabs always waiting at the front door, ready to take you any where. The hotel staff were very kind and friendly, always willing to assist when asked. We would definately stay in this hotel again and will be recomending it to our friends." |

| "The hotel really needs an upgrade and thorough cleaning. Breakfast ws bad. One of the worst food we ate in Japan. You are better off eating at the starbucks downstairs." |

| "The APA-Gion Kyoto was a medium-priced hotel. The room was clean but small, as was the bathroom. The hallway carpets looked really dirty and the restaurant plastic tablecloths could use a good scrubbing (which made me not want to look to closely at everything else). This hotel is in a convenient location to shopping and sightseeing but I would probably look for other options in the future. There is a Starbucks on the ground floor for anyone needing there morning fix. " |
