"Hello. We are very confident about your services, also location and the prise was really good.We were really surprised, how clean and large was the room and also bed was big, like in western style. Most of historical monuments were close to the hotel Ark, so it saved our time and even money. We will recomend this Asiarooms website and the hotel to anybody, who is interested in Japan expecially Kyoto. Thanks a lot."

"This hotel was great! The room was much bigger then I expected and the staff was very helpful. The price was a bit high if you're on a budget but it is located in a great location and definitely great to stay at."

"room is big, compared to other rooms we booked in japan. service was considerably good, staff were polite. close to subway and bus stops. Although not exactly in downtown, but traveling by bus, it's good enough to go everywhere. room had 2 beds, a chair and a tea table. we recommend this to budget travelers, and those who want to live a little outside of the crowded city."

"Travellers: Two Australian females in their mid-twenties on their first visit to Japan Stay Dates: 3 nights from 25/8/08 to 28/08/08. Location: We believe the ideal location to stay in Kyoto is in Kyoto Station itself or in close proximity as the buses and subway stations all depart from here. Foreigners should head to level 2 and/or 9 to obtain information brochures. Also, for 500 YEN you can purchase an one ALL DAY bus pass to ride the City Buses unlimited number of times. The Ark hotel is about 5-10 minutes bus/subway ride away from Kyoto Station **Please note that the JR pass is different to and does not cover metro or subway lines** We found the bus route to the quickest and most convenient. There are plenty of restaurants and convenience stores close to this hotel. Maccas, 7 Eleven (Visa/Mastercard ATM), the infamous 100 YEN shop, internet cafe (Healing Feelin'). There is literally a bus stop in front of the hotel and several others around the hotel area. Directions: Subway - You need to buy a separate subway ticket. Best to approach train guard and ask for directions and a map. The station to dismount @ is Omiya Station in which the hotel is a 2 minute walk. With the subway ride you need to change platforms which we found a hassle with our heavy luggage. Bus (aka City Bus) - Bus stop A3, bus no. 206. There is english announcements on the bus. Get off at Shijo Omiya bus stop (opposite a 7 Eleven store). The hotel is also only about 2 minutes from here. Hotel: Small to medium hotel with the basic amenities. As you will find with this and other similar hotels in Japan, it is equipped for the typical Japanese businessman so there is normally no pool, gym, multiple restaurants or bars (although the Ark Hotel does have 3 different bar lounges). Reception: Very friendly and obliging and spoke basic english. There is one young bloke there that speaks great english. When asked, he told us that he lived in the US for several years when he was young thus why he understood and spoke good english. So if you're lucky or really need help, he should be able to help you (sorry, we didn't ask for his name). You can ask to borrow an adaptor from reception if you need one. Room: Suited us fine as we're small, but understandably small for larger builds. Room is not new but still looks fresh and is clean. Sheets were changed everyday. Hair-dryer is provided however no iron/iron board. All TV channels in Japanese but from memory there is one English speaking movie from abount 9pm. Overall: For the price we paid ($312 AUD for two adults for 3 nights double beds), we thought this hotel was great value for money. As we had the day bus passes, the location didn't bother us at all as we could hop on a bus to Kyoto station without a fuss. Will be recomment to family and friends who are looking for a decent budget accomodation. As always (we book ALL our hotels in the Asia region via this website!!) Thank you to Asia Room for the smooth and easy booking process and BEST PRICES. Regards, Trinh & Judy Le Sydney, Australia "

"We enjoyed our three nights at the Ark in Kyoto. It was easy to get to the areas of the city we wanted to explore by bus, metro, or on foot. The staff at the hotel was very helpful in giving us directions on how to get to places and in making reservations at other hotels on our trip."
