"Located on top of Kyoto Station this hotel is ideal for seeing Kyoto & surrounds. The rooms won't disappoint, nor will the buffet breakfast."
5/5  Posted by MR. GLYNN, Terence, Australia in December 2007
"We were very happy with Granvia. The breakfasts were excellent and we liked the air of no-fuss professionalism of the staff throughout the hotel. The hotel is a great base to see the sights by taxi."

"A large modern hotel with an excellent location. Lots of places nearby to shop and eat. A-1 location for access to intercity trains, local trains, subway and buses to the popular destinations. Service is typically Japanese quality, just splendid. Guestroom decor was a bit blah. Would definitely stay again at this hotel (US$300 a night for a 3 person room) unless budget dictates finding a cheaper place. "

"The Granvia was very elegant, has an excellent breakfast. The location is extremely convenient for eating and touring. At the concierge's suggestion, we had a great Japanese meal at Wakuden Restaurant on the 11th floor of the Eat Paradise section of the department store. "

"We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. I chose it as it was close to the railway station and knew that we would be arriving late into Kyoto and did not want to travel after negotiating the train station. This was a very sound decision. The hotel was lovely in every aspect, the front reception staff were very pleasant and helpful, the porter was exceptionally friendly and helpful, and the customer relations staff(tours etc) couldn't help us enough. We enjoyed the breakfast in the hotel and another lovely meal in one of the restaurants.Rooms were great and housekeeping very good. It was also helpful to have access to shops and post office near the hotel. Well done Granvia Hotel."

"I thought the guest relations was very poor. The restaurant was excellent and the cleanliness of the room was excellent. The room was on the small size."
4/5  Posted by MR. LIMBURGER, Christina, Germany in August 2007
"The hotel is connected to the Kyoto train station, which is a impressive construction in itself. The rooms looked better on the internet pictures, but they were sufficient. The bar charged on top of higher priced drinks for the view, also the fitness center would have been with additional charges. The guest relations offered unfortunately very little information regarding restaurants and city info beyond the usual sights. As this seems to be a very busy hotel it was great that they offered 3 different restaurants to choose from to have breakfast. All of the staff was very friendly, which made our stay overall a good experience."

"The location is perfect for sightseeing in the whole Kansai area. The hotel offers the choice between room with city or station view. It is not worth paying the extra fee for city view, since the station view is equal! Families should know, that the hotel's indoor pool is not open for children and cost a 1000 Yen extra for each time you want to go swimming!!!"
