Fantastic location. Large room by Japanese standards. Highy recommended. Worth the slightly extra money. Can not rate facilities nor restaurant as we did not use them.

| "This is an excellent hotel that treats you like the king. Their service is impeccable. Their staff are all extremely friendly and helpful. If you can afford to stay at this hotel, then you won't be disappointed." |

| "This must count as the worst hotel experience ever. I have stayed in countless hotels but have never been to one that is as bad as this. Firstly, they have only 3 non-smoking double rooms in the whole hotel so it is no wonder that I was given a smoking room. I had a hard time trying to convince the staff to change my room as I have very little tolerance to cigarette smell. Those with kids or babies should give this hotel a miss. Secondly, this hotel looks so old and bland, it looks more like a three star and unlike any other Nikko hotel that I have been to. Thirdly, there is no air-conditioning control in the room. When I complained about the room being too stuffy, one staff was sent up to open the window! I was advised that if I feel too cold in the middle of the night, I just have to get up and close the window. For a moment there, I thought I had checked into a motel! Fourthly, I can't remember when I was last charged for water in a 4 or 5 star hotel. Imagine my shock when I received the bill for that. Mind you, it's not even Evian. Lastly, the LCD screen that they promote is just a cheap TV that does not go with the room decor at all. I can go on and on about how disappointing this hotel has been but I think you get what I mean. I may sound like a disgruntled customer but I am just telling it as it is." |

| "A lovely clean hotel with very helpful staff. The room was a nice size as was the bathroom and the location to the Gion district was just a stroll.
we would certainly recommend this hotel to any one staying in Kyoto." |

| "Stayed several nights and would stay the rest of my life if I could afford it.
Staff was perfect; effiecient, curtious, and knowledgeable.
Hotel was perfectly clean and cared for.
Room was spacious and well maintanied.
Salvatore Ferragamo shampoos and soaps in the bathroom, all worth using.
Only negatve is they only have one computer with internet access for guests in the lobby. No wi-fi available.
Breakfast buffett was nothing special and very standard.
All in all, I would go back again and again.
You will not be dissapointed with your stay at the Kyoto Nikko.
