"Hotel was in a great location in the centre of Kyoto - close to the shopping malls and restaurants. Hotel itself was ok, room was nice and quite a good size - the only thing that let this hotel down was the bathroom. It was small, and needing refurbishment. Aside from the bathroom I would probably stay here again as it was an ok price but the location was perfect."

"When we checked in, they couldn't find our reservation. The tour desk was not able to book a tour because it was sunday, and we went to the Okura on the other side of the street. The Okura tourdesk made a call to sunrise tours and we could join the afternoontour the next day. All the other tours (Nara) we booked in the Okura instead the royal Kyoto. But the 4 persons room was quite big and it was well-maintained and clean. At night it can be noisy because of the big street. Location is perfect."

"Great Location, but underimpressed. Hotel is ok, but for the price, was expecting more. "

"Once we found the hotel - it would have been good to have known WHICH direction from the subway we had to go - we were delighted with the location. It was very convenient. We participated in Johnny Hillwalkers Walk in English and can highly recommend this. We learnt such a lot from Johnny, and in talking to Japanese people subsequently, their comment was that we had experienced more of the Japanese culture than most Japanese!"

"The hotel's location is great. Service is ok, room size is ok, breakfast buffet is ok, great value. It is just about at the center of most of Kyoto's attractions. Many restos & shops are within walking distance. If they can provide a free shuttle bus to-and-from the Kyoto station every 5 minute intervals just like what other hotels are doing, it would be perfect!"

"Comfortable and clean hotel within 15-20 minute walk from Gion. 1 minute walk from the subway stop. Very good buffet breakfast. Concierge is amazing. The hotel itself had some better days and our room could use some updating. "

"Hotel is OK!"

"Excellent location on one of the main roads, but you felt like you were not right on a busy throughfare. All the main shopping and restaurant areas were with in very comfortable walking distance. Staff was very helpful & friendly. The property and rooms were very clean and tidy. Bed was very comfortable, but the rooms were the standard Japanese size, small. Next time I would get a room with a view, since we had an interior room with out a view of the city."

"We made our reservation two months, at least, before our visit and requested a non-smoking room but, to our chagrin, we were put in a smoking room/corridor. We requested a change of room but we were refused. As non smokers this made our stay at your hotel somewhat uncomfortable."

"Efficient and well-organised, but that still allowed for a pleasant, relaxed atmosphere. A most enjoyable stay."
