| "The Grand Mer Hotel Okinawa was certainly a beautiful hotel in a most unlikely location. It is high on a hill in Okinawa City in a neighborhood that is jam-packed with "love hotels". Don't bother taking a walk down the street looking for a place to eat, because you won't find anything (except for one nice little family-owned traditional Japanese place right near the parking lot and garage exit -- highly recommended!). There is a hard-core sushi restaurant in the hotel (not cheap), but the buffet at the hotel's other restaurant didn't look particularly appealing.
If you can find the Grand Mer without getting lost or asking for directions a couple of times (whether you read Japanese or not) you are a real Boy Scout! Here's a hint... turn up the hill at the road that intersects with the "Hotel Hawaii". Parking at the Grand Mer is free, which is nice; but the lots can get pretty full.
When I state that I probably wouldn't stay here again, it's not that the place wasn't nice, but that it is highly inconvenient (and the pool is very small); except for the fact that it is half the price of anything in its class which would be on or near the beach, and the view was outstanding. Therefore, I can't recommend it one way or another. But I can say that it was quiet, comfortable and I slept well; and, like most places I stayed at in Okinawa, it had a free connection to the internet in the room." |

| "My family thoroughly enjoyed our 10-day stay at Hotel Grand Mer. Although distance to town was far, the hotel's shuttle service was a nice consolation as it allowed us to travel with ease. When in town we utilized the taxis but the cost was drastically minimized because the shuttle was able to transport us closer to town. The people servicing the hotel guests were very hospitable and made our stay enjoyable to say the least. We would definitely recommend your hotel to our friends and family members. Thank you very much for a memorable vacation!" |

| "The staff at the Grand Mer was absolutely great! They were very friendly and went out of the way to help us. When we needed more bath towels and experienced problems with the room safe, someone was at our door immediately. If we were to go back to Okinawa, we would definitely stay there again.

| "Nice place.
Huge room.
Great service.
Really friendly people at the front desk.
Was a little surprised that there was no iron in the room.
Shower was a little bit unusual for people accustomed to American travelers- no full shower curtain, rather, a half a pane of glass.
The shower head was detachable and really nice.
Great water pressure, the water was hot and stayed hot.
Great cleaning crew, but if you put the "do not disturb" sign on, expect to make a reservation for cleaning services, but it still gotta be before noon.
Location's a little bit tucked away up in the hills, but centrally located so you can trek to northern and southern parts of the island without too much trouble.
The bus route that goes south into the city is less than a mile away- easy walking distance.
Breakfast buffet was tasty.
Shisa Lounge (bar upstairs) was a nice little place to relax with friendly staff.
Store downstairs was cheap and convenient.
They had really interesting arts & craft shows in the lobby - like sanshin (Okinawan 3 string guitar) classes.
Internet lounge on second floor was really helpful & convenient, there are also ethernet connections in the rooms.
Great hotel." |

| "Overall I felt the Grand Mer was an excellent hotel for a 7 day visit to Okinawa. The staff was extremely professional and courteous. Facilities were more than adequate for my family's needs. One problem I observed was the lack of vehicle parking on weekends. The available parking at the hotel fills up rapidly after 8:00PM on Saturdays. The hotel is also in a somewhat isolated area so a rental car is almost a requirement unless you are prepared to pay large taxi costs. The airport shuttle is another excellent service offered by the hotel that was not well advertised on the web site. " |

| "We enjoyed a very comfortable stay at the Grand Mer Hotel. The staff were all very helpful and friendly, and the room was spacious and clean.
The only slight disadvantage is that the hotel is quite difficult to find and if you hire a car, be sure that you have satellite navigation otherwise you may struggle to find your way back, especially when it's dark!" |

| "Grand Mer's staff provided impeccable check-in service and assistance adding another guest to my reservation. On site parking is at a premium, as it is in most places on Okinawa, but the hotel does provide a shuttle service to several off site parking areas. Overall, the room was great, however the mattresses were a little too hard for my comfort." |

| "This is a great hotel--spacious rooms, great service, clean, and excellent amenities--all at a very reasonable price. However, you will need a car to get around. It is located in a relatively remote area of Okinawa City. For example, it is not located near the beaches, so it would be a 15-30 minute ride to the nearest beaches. " |

| "The brochure for this hotel does not do the Grand Mer justice !!!
The room was extremely spacious, the service was above and beyond, and the folks.... well, it was really hard to say good bye.
I loved how the Grand Mer was out of the way and secluded with a beautiful view of the ocean... Once you navigate your way around, this place really is not hard to find and very close to Kadena Air Base and the American Village...
Everyone was like family and we hated to say goodbye. THANK YOU for an awesome stay" |
