Would I stay at this location
again:

Most likely
The hotel was great in all respects except I wish we had known that it wasn't exactly in Sapparo. We traveled throughout Japan using the Japan Railways Rail Pass. When we booked this hotel we did not realize the hotel was located near the Shin-Sapporo station and not the actual Sapporo train station. Although this caused a bit of confusion at first it worked out OK. For others considering this hotel just realize you will need to take some sort of transportation to downtown Sapporo. If you are travveling by train it won't be a problem.

"Check-in was efficient and professional. Upgraded room was refreshing and spacious. Front desk staff had a little problem with English spoken too quickly but then, they made every effort to understand and if not, got another colleague to attend to us. Service staff at the coffee house was warm and polite. Hotel was just next to the train station and subway. 30 mins by train to the city center may be the only downside but the serenity and lack of crowds makes the travelling worthwhile."

"this is a great hotel in a quiet section of town. located a 10 minute subway ride from downtown/central sapporo---dont confuse shin-sapporo station with main sapporo station! but being outside of downtown is a perk to me: more quiet, less intense. located 1 conenient block away from the subway and the train from chitose airport (20 minutes via train from airport). staff friendly and accomodating---they even helped us cart our luggage to the train station! big rooms by japanese standards and nice, clean contemporary design. ask for rooms facing the majestic mountains. breakfast buffet standard and good mix of western and japanese. nice spa on premises that is an extra charge---but they dont allow people with tattoos to enter. would definately stay here again."

"While the location was not the most convenient for my personal business needs it is in a handy place being close to a major train station. It is easu to access the main centre of Sapporo from here. I found the staff very helpful, efficient and professional. Excellent service all through the hotel. Unfortunatly I was ill on arrival but the staff gave me so much assistance in finding what I needed, it was greatly appreciated."

"here is my comments for Sheraton Hotel. 1) location is good, just a min walk to JR station, 2) room area is not big enough, 3) less English TV channel can be chosen, 4) poor city map to provide guest, 5) only provide 4 kinds foreign currency exchange service, may consider to add Hong Kong dollars & RMB "

"I was not sure what to expect as far as the room size since it was an American hotel chain in Japan and I booked a double for me, my wife, and my 2-year-old. I called Ahead to give my Starwood Gold member number and upon arrival I was upgraded to a larger room so I don't know what size the double would have been. We were on the 25th Floor and had a great view of the city and mountains. Access to the train and the subway was very convenient. We used the subway to travel in and out of Sapporo and Odori Park area where the ice festival is held in February. The hotel is not located near these areas but the subway is easy to use. There is plenty of shopping nearby as well as a grocery stores and fresh food markets. Our upgraded room had an American style bathroom with tub which was great for our child. We had a king size bed and were provided a crib upon request once we arrived. The bed was firm but that seems to be the standard in Asia. The hotel staff was excellent and they truly know what makes a "service industry" successful. One night at 23:45 our daughter woke up with a fever. I called the front desk and got a thermometer but the temp was in celcius. I called and the manager converted the degrees for me and asked if we wnated a doctor. We wanted some children's tylenol and the manager made some calls but there was no tylenol in Sapporo (buying medecine is quite different in Japan so be sure to travel with some, as long as it is legal -- some U.S. over-the counter medecines are illegal, check entry restrictions). Fortunately another guest from Hong Kong overheard me and had some children's Tylenol and he gave it to me. The staff was concerned and were happy someone could help us. Some on staff do not speak English but they always find someone that can and have them call you back. There are day ski trips that are arranged at the hotel as well that seem really reasonably priced. The drive on the bus is about 1.5 hrs. This hotel is everything you would expect in a Sheraton and I would recommend it if you want a good price and don't mind using the subway to get t more centrally located areas."
